aaaah this is exactly what we're working on for OpAfrica! been looking into foreign aid and how they contribute into making Africa poorer. There is in fact more money that is transferred from poor countries to rich, than from rich to poor. Beside, foreign aid contribute to an increase of inflation in those countries, leaving them more debt-laden than at the begining. Report have shown that while western countries gives around 30 billions of dollars to help substain the development of Africa, 6 time that among of money goes out of the continent, mostly to the same donors country.
Not only that but foreign aid are in fact designed to serve strategic and economic interest of the donor countries. Basically those foreign aid are nothing more than an illusion, to give us the impression that we are being generous while we are in fact draining Africa from it ressources...
