I may offend some people here. Many may agree with me. This is a subject that I have been wanting to discuss out in the open for quite some time:
What is it with this obsession that grown men have with worshipping professional sports players, teams and entertainers in general?
Take a look at the photo below. If you are of rationale mind, is this not disturbing?
Characteristics of many of these fanatics:
- Woefully out of shape.
- Propensity to bow, or adhere to all aspects of the State.
- Many of their wives order them around.
- Lacking in faith.
- No self respect.
- Sheeple (brainless).
Yes, people have the freedom to spend their money on whatever they choose, but professional sports IMO is a blatant distraction to keep much of the population from focusing on what really matters. It allows the corrupt to remain corrupt and siphon off more of our tax dollars. It's a bread and circus scheme. When I was a kid, I did kid things. But when will people grow up?
Some steps one can take to overcome the madness of this crowd and the "big game":
- Go camping.
- Go for a run.
- Read an interesting book.
- Cancel your cable.
- Take your family to a museum.
- Take your kids to the gun range.
- Teach your kids how to change the oil on a vehicle.
- Start a new business with passive income.
I will speak more in depth on this subject in the future.
Till next time kids..
I would certainly say for some people this is true. They take sports too seriously, spend too much money and time fantasizing and analyzing the sport/athletes. I enjoy sports because it is entertainment. I also like playing the sports i watch and enjoy the competitive nature and comroderty. That translates when I watch the best play of tv. Some of the emotion transfers over. Tribalism also plays a role, but I agree people need to be more balanced in their lives. So much more then just sports. Thanks for the opinion. Also may I suggest a post where you introduce yourself?
You make great points.
Roger that on an introduction.
