Shithole countries

The world is in uproar about Trump's comments regarding Haiti and African countries.

I am a shitzen from a Shithole country, currently living in the paradise that is the Western Hemisphere. My take is this.
The state of some African countries is deplorable. Education is expensive for the poorest, health is a luxury and Cholera is breaking out in Zambia and potentially Zimbabwe as we speak.

While no one deserves to be told that their own country is a shithole, and I will also add that American has its own shithole places. But, that aside, each year hundreds of thousands of young Africans are taking a perishing in the Mediterranean, pregnant women, children and young men, all in search of better opportunities in the fortress that is Europe. Why is this?
History aside, Africa still harbors the last dictators who have amassed astonishing wealth at the expense of their citizens. Corruption, greed has had an insidious impact on governance.

Africa has the youngest populations in the world. A distinct advantage over any aging populations - but some leaders are blinded by colonial relics and tendencies that they have done a disservice to this very young and vibrant population.

So does Africa deserve to be called a shithole continent? Certainly not. The majority of Africans are hard workers, creative, entreprenurial, cultural and well educated. It is a continent on cusp of change. A continent that is driven by hunger for change. So while people silently agree with Mr Trumps comments, let's remember that Africa has been raped, pillaged, colonised as recently as the late 80s. It is a continent in transition, trying to find its own feet in a world that was written by the victors.

Lest we not forget that before Africa, even Romans who thought their power was supreme and never ending ; they lost their empire, so did the British. Africa the 'shithole' will rise again.
