This caller is being too general. That said, having worked in the mainstream media as a reporter, I must say, they leave a lot to be desired. And I am talking about the reportage side of it, which, of course, affects the other aspects of a particular media house. So, for example, the fact that little or nothing was said about Pablo Escobar's son revelations (say on CNN) in his recent book, means, so often, that nothing will be said about it right across the board in that particular media house.
And while I might not agree with much of what is being peddled in the independent media, the fact that the filters which exist are not coming from the corporate world means that I have a diversity of perspectives to sift through. The onus is on me to put on my analytic spectacles and make sense of what is being presented to me.
That said, maybe if the mainstream guys were doing a better job we would not have so many people gravitating towards the alternative media.
