in vino veritas, as some in ancient Rome used to say while they discussed what was going on in their world. and it was a small one compared to what it is today. its not the world that grew, it is our knowledge about things, the earth, space, technologies etc. that opens a wider view. and many would argue that it is therefore that we are more advanced than this primitive people living in their small world.
and its only a small step from here to get the feeling of a kind of superiority, i mean look at those people running around half naked living in tends outside of "civilization" just a little more than monkeys....
this might be one end of the spectrum, but there is another one, those who try to protect others from whatever even on the cost of live.
i am not talking (this time) about humanitarian wars / wars for democracy that are so popular this days, any way they are clearly motivated by greed, gaining power, control and wealth (at least by the organizers, less by the cannon fodder or their victims).
i am talking about how can someone think he/she could safe a unborn live by killing an existing live as happened to a doctor who made an abortion to save the woman's live.
it is true that no one has the right to take an other's live. this is a very valuable principle and must be applied always!
but instead we start thinking we know better and actually are superior to others, specially if we are in a group this behavior amplifies. think of patriotism: "The quality of being patriotic; devotion to and vigorous support for one's country." and suddenly you start killing people in other countries because they are the "axis of evel" and they eat children....
what better would it be the devoted love wouldn't be for the nation, skin colour, religion, political party, money.... but instead, at least respect for live. so don't " shoot first, ask later", just ask! keep questioning all those simple answers, above all those suggesting violence is the solution.
yeah, probably asking too much! there is always a bad apple in the basket.
so what is it all about making so many words about nothing new?
well, just some thoughts... and i still have a glass of vine, salute!
