Why Vote?

in #politics8 years ago

Why vote when the candidates suck? People say you should play your part and pick the lesser of the two evils. How come if you don't vote your looked to be insane and receive criticism? We live in a society where shying away from an accepted norm is not tolerated. People can not be themselves with the cage this system has set. With all the hate and uncertainty going on in this world there is something I want to acknowledge. To start, they say you don't have to be a racist to be a part of racism. Seeing someone being racist and not doing anything about it, is just as bad as racism. Lets move this same theory to politics. If you vote for the lesser of two evils your doing the same thing. You're participating in a system where the goal is to keep you constrained. The point I'm trying to make is that if you don't like Hilary Clinton or Donald Trump vote for a third party or vote no. Don't let people say, "Oh you just helped the other guy win.". That is just bigotry which is a part of the problem. In conclusion, with this solution you can say you played your part no matter what the outcome. At the end of the day anything has to come down just to go back up.

Exit politics :)

Superb post. The system is rigged. I won't participate in it, until it is to my liking. You are spot on. Don't play the "game". Why Vote?

Democracy only works if people participate. Vote for the option you like, even if it doesn't seem to stand a chance. If you don't like any of the options, create a new one. But participate.

The current system simply doesn't leave you with other options, really. I'd recommend you to watch this video by CGP Grey explaining the problems with a two-party system - something which unfortunately is perfectly illustrated by the current political situation.
