Yesterday was the last day of the Annual Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China where the celebration of killing dogs and eating their meat happens each summer. This is extremely troubling as an American as dogs are considered man's best friend here. I hate to share these pictures but they play an important role in understanding what horrors are happening. 
This Festival has been going since 2009. There are several groups that are trying to stop it but eating dog meat in China and the surrounding areas is as common as eating bacon in the United States. In fact, dog meat sells for as cheap as $2 per pound in China. Over the day Festival, about 15,000 pounds of dog meat is eaten.
Although the government of China says that all dogs are killed humainly, I just can't comprehend these actions. What can we do to stop another country from doing this? Are we supposed to be the World police? Every country has different eating habits and customs, but this seems beyond the pail. There is one easy way to fight against this.

Not just dogs and cats. People should stop consuming meat all together. How the hell do you call your an animal lover when you're eating meat?!

Fair point. Like I said, I know we all have different cultures, this practice seems hard to swallow for me at least.
I love my dogs. The reason why citizens of mainland China needs visas to the U.S. because the Chinese will crap yet not using the restroom, they don't care about quality, they care about making money. They will will steal any dog, even guard dogs from their own homes. No wonder they are punished by air pollution & polluted water. They also make fake rice, fake cabbage, fake eggs, anything they can fake…all for their greed. In Vietnam…they also eat dog…even stealing pet dogs & a girl found her dog & she cried.
so sad to see humans behaving this way an it just being accepted out in the open. If people in my country see people acting this way would put an abrupt stop to it. We take animal cruelty seriously. its just not right to do this period
While I would never eat a dog knowingly, I do eat pork, beef chicken etc. so I don't think I am exactly the guy who can question what the Chinese or other east Asians do. To certain Hindus if you eat meat you are way down on the human scale.
Not about race at all. About parts of the world. I'm sure tons of non asians eat dog as well.
Probably, but Eastern Asians are the ones most known for it, didn't intend to sound biased.

This disgusts me but I know that it exists. Hopefully, the laws will change and that specific population will come to understand that dogs are man's best friend, not man's best meat.
I am COMPLETELY gutted.....It's hard to face the reality of these etrocious events happening around the world. I am a dog lover and I've grown up with dogs all my life. I know it's hard to understand how people and other human beings can allow and partake in such inhumane activity. It blows my mind how they do not see their ways or cannot understand our position. But It takes exactly what you are doing right now by posting this to spark that change. We must spread the word or things like this go completely unnoticed. With deep sadness yet an urge to do my part like signing the petition, I thank you for your bravery in bringing this to the Steemit community where it has a real chance to expose this issue and make a change.
