The president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, affirmed that he does not think about his role in history, but that he has to "do the job as he should", in statements to the Russian TV news "Vremia" ("Tiempo"), that celebrates this Monday (01.01.2018) its 50 years.
"I do not think about it in the least, you just have to do the job properly," the Kremlin chief responded to a question from a "Vremia" journalist about whether he is concerned about his role in the story.
Putin, who aspires to reelection in the elections on March 18, visited the newscast on the occasion of the anniversary and stressed that "Vremia" is a "model of accurate and timely information." "It's a very important model, and the 'Vremia' program is that model in the consciousness of millions, it has a level that should not be lost," he added.
He explained that his visit to the Ostankino studios, headquarters of the Russian radio-television, is due to the fact that he considers the fiftieth anniversary of the program "Vremia" a "party for the whole country".
"I would very much like to hear in the news and analyzes that we have made the maximum effort to achieve the objectives set and that we have achieved the best possible result," Putin said when answering a question about what information he would like to hear on the news. The Russian president added that for him this would be very important and that "he would give a lot for that to be so".
