Question: “In studying the drug epidemic, I've realized that the black market for drugs for exhibits the same market characteristics of any other commodity market. It's my view that if illicit drugs become prohibitively expensive, their use (i.e. demand) will fall precipitously. To make this case we needn't think it terms of hypotheticals, just look at the way the DEA stopped the quaalude crisis. Our country had a real problem with quaaludes when the drug cost 25 cents a hit in the 70's and early 80's. By investigating and shutting down the supply centers, the price of quaaludes rose to over $250/pill and the number of quaalude addicts (and deaths and injuries) fell to almost zero. We should take a similar approach to the drugs that currently plague our society.”

The short answer is yes, we should definetly end the drug war. We need to stop giving the State and its thugs reasons to hurt our friends and loved ones. I live in one of the cities hit hardest by the opiod crisis and I'm alot more of afraid pf the police than the heroine addicts. At least if the drug addicts pull a gun on me to rob my pockets i can defend myself, try to stand up to the cops and see what happens......

One reason I believe that this war on people keeps going is because of the industry behind it. It is HUGE, no politician have the balls(also they get paid by the status quo) to tell all those people, "we stop this madness, find another way to be useful to society. " I put a lot of blame on the officers and judge who are on the ground and make this a reality.

A good thing to note is at least there are reports saying less people are signing up to be the goons the State needs to force its way into people lives. Less cops could mean less judges and so up the line.

There is no war on drug, it's a war on people.

By now we all know that the cannabis prohibition is evil and those enforcing it are not better than SS imho.

There is also a lot of substances that shouldn't be classified as such but because they don't come from BigPharma's store you aren't allowed to have access to those. LSD, MDMA, Psilocybin, ayahuasca, etc... which have been proven to be formidable mind opening drugs that can also sometime heal some mental illness under good supervision.

The most deaths come from opiates, this include heroine but mostly legal pills made by BigPharma and this is where the real damage from the drugs are and the government is complicit in getting more people addicted to this shit. Most opiates addicts will start on prescription medicines.

If you want to know more about Meth and adderral there is a wonderful new documentary on Netflix, Take Your Pills. It shows very well how endemic drug usage is in society.

I accuse the government of criminalizing drug users causing much more damage to society with incarceration and ruining those people lives than the usage of those drugs will create to most users.
