  • After the plea agreement was made public last month, Trump sought to distance himself from Papadopoulos, tweeting that "few people knew the young, low level volunteer named George, who has already proven to be a liar." But the "low level volunteer" made several trips overseas throughout 2016, purportedly on behalf of the campaign, making appearances where he was introduced as a Trump adviser. George Papadopoulos, the Trump foreign policy aide who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI, initially misled agents out of what he claimed was loyalty to President Donald Trump, according to a person with direct knowledge of the investigation. "In truth and in fact," the filings read, "the professor only took interest in defendant Papadopoulos because of his status with the Campaign." There are also lingering questions about the role Papadopoulos played in the campaign.

  • I think it is a typical Democratic — Democrat — ploy to discredit Judge Moore, a sincere, honest, trustworthy individual," Skipper said.
  • Several GOP lawmakers have urged Moore to step down from his position as the Republican candidate in the Alabama Senate race, "if the allegations are true." Only a few, including Sen.

  • During the three weeks starting on 17 October, Fox News spent just under 12 hours talking about the Uranium One deal, with 29 percent of that time on opinion host Sean Hannity's prime-time show.
  • Hannity calls it "the real Russian conspiracy," while Democrats suggest the story is used to distract from news about Robert Mueller's investigation into President Donald Trump and ties to Russia.
  • The Uranium One story came back in the news through stories in The Hill in October that the FBI was investigating whether Russia was trying to gain influence in the US nuclear industry at the time the deal was being considered. The watchdog had no accounting for how much time CNN and MSNBC spent on the story, but said they were most likely to debunk it when it was brought up.

  • The leaders made a big show of announcing $250 billion in deals, but some, including Boeing's $37 billion plane order, were repackaged from deals already announced, while others are MOUs that may never come to fruition.
  • Roy Moore, the GOP nominee for Alabama Senate, is tied with his Democratic opponent Doug Jones in the latest Opinion-Savvy/Decision Desk HQ poll after four women alleged Moore made sexual advances toward them when he was in his 30s and they were teenagers.
  • Not only have several top Republicans called for him to step aside if the allegations are true, but the poll reveals that his previous support has also begun to falter.

The ‘If True’ Cowardice

  • But once you have read the story, there is only one decent response: Moore, the Republican nominee to become Alabama’s next senator, needs to quit the race immediately.
  • The Senate will probably take away a few damaging provisions from the House bill, like a higher tax rate for low-income households.
  • Among the points Harwood made: Any additional economic growth that the bill might create through corporate tax changes is likely to be overwhelmed by the drag from larger deficits.

  • "I have a regret that I am not president, because I think there is so much opportunity," Biden told Oprah Winfrey in a clip from "Super Soul Sunday" on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

  • Talley, President Trump’s nominee to be a federal judge in Alabama, has never tried a case, was unanimously rated "not qualified" by the American Bar Assn.’s judicial rating committee, has practiced law for only three years and, as a blogger last year, displayed a degree of partisanship unusual for a judicial nominee, denouncing "Hillary Rotten Clinton" and pledging support for the National Rifle Assn.On Thursday, the Senate Judiciary Committee, on a party-line vote, approved him for a lifetime appointment to the federal bench.Talley, 36, is part of what Trump has called the "untold story" of his success in filling the courts with young conservatives."The judge story is an untold story. I wanted people to be able to use my blog to discuss issues, to come together and find common ground."In a follow-up written question, Feinstein asked him how many times he had appeared in a federal district court."To my recollection, during my time as Alabama’s deputy solicitor general, I participated as part of the legal team in one hearing in federal district court in the Middle District of Alabama," he replied. On Thursday, the Judiciary Committee approved White House lawyer Greg Katsas on a 11-9 vote to serve on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and then approved Talley on another 11-9 vote. In a blog post titled a "Call to Arms," he wrote that "the President and his democratic allies in Congress are about to launch the greatest attack on our constitutional freedoms in our lifetime," referring to Obama’s proposal for background checks and limits on rapid-fire weapons following the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn."The object of that war is to make guns illegal, in all forms," Talley wrote. A month later, he reprinted a "thoughtful response" from a reader who wrote: "We will have to resort to arms when our other rights — of speech, press, assembly, representative government — fail to yield the desired results." To that, he wrote: "I agree completely with this."When pressed, he told the senators he was "trying to generate discussion. • I've got other games that I get back into occasionally, like league of legends, but I just don't get that with WoW and I played that game for like 6 years and was an active member of the community. And then by the time that I had time to raid again I just wasn't as interested in playing anymore and ending up logging on like once a week, then once a month, and then not at all. About halfway through mists my hours at work changed and I couldn't make raids anymore, so I slowly just ended up playing less and less.
