A Groundbreaking Case May Force Controversial Data Firm Cambridge Analytica to Reveal Trump Secrets

- And it was before, of course, it became clear that the firm—partially owned by Trump mega-donor Robert Mercer and the place where former White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon once served as vice president—would help propel Donald Trump into the White House by cultivating vast troves of information on an untold number of American voters to craft controversial and highly targeted political messages.
- Paul-Olivier Dehaye, the co-founder of PersonalData.IO, a startup that helps individuals request their data from companies like Tinder, Uber, and Facebook, Carroll says, told him he suspected that Cambridge Analytica, with offices around the world, may have processed the data of American voters in 2016 in the UK.
- At that point, the practices of Cambridge Analytica and its connection to both Mercer and Bannon were only starting to come under the microscope—questions that have since expanded to include the company’s possible connection to Russia’s social-media meddling in the election and, more recently, its potential collaboration with Wikileaks.

Bob Corker is changing his vote on the GOP tax plan because it could make him rich

- BREAKING: Orrin Hatch admits he wrote controversial tax provision, which enriches @SenBobCorker, Donald Trump, @SpeakerRyan and a handful of top GOP lawmakers. Experts slam Hatch for pretending the provision isn't new.
Sen. Mark Warner: 'I believe it will be a constitutional crisis' if Mueller is fired

- Mark Warner sat down with CNBC's John Harwood to discuss a range of issues, including special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential campaign and possible collusion with Donald Trump's campaign.
- And rumors often-times coming from the press of the president's activities, because he wasn't able to be banked by many of the American banks, so banking through Deutsche Bank, and that there were Russian dollars that were in some mirror trading and helping to back some of those Deutsche Bank loans.
- But the fact that he has already elicited two guilty pleas, one from Mr. Papadopoulos, one from General Flynn, and he's gotten two indictments, of the president's campaign manager and deputy campaign manager, I believe he'll have many more stories to tell.
Wells Fargo CEO admits he won’t use his tax windfall to create more jobs

- The House of Representatives is set to vote on the final version of the GOP tax bill Tuesday, with the Senate to follow close behind. Most Republican members of Congress are heralding the plan’s giant, permanent tax cut for corporations as the reason behind their support. The GOP argues that when corporations get a tax cut, they put that money toward creating more jobs and raising wages.
- A recent CNN poll from Tuesday found only 33 percent of Americans say they favor the GOP tax bill, while 55 percent oppose it. Sixty-six percent of Americans say they believe the bill favors the wealthy over the middle class.
We’re witnessing the wholesale looting of America

- Congressional Republicans who spent years insisting that "dynamic scoring" would capture the deficit-reducing power of tax cuts are now plowing ahead with a bill so fast that they don’t have time to get one done, because it turns out they can’t be bothered to meet their own targets.
- And the normal course of ordinary life flips into reverse, as those with some inclination toward bad acts recognize a moment of impunity and grab what they can, while those who would ordinarily be invested in upholding order are afraid and stay inside.
- The goals of the law were twofold, on the one hand hoping to tighten the regulatory screws to make future bailouts less likely and on the other hand trying to bring some order to the question of what to do with large banks that do go bust in a way that risks a crisis.

It's Not Just Corker: 14 GOP Senators Stand to Reap Millions From #CorkerKickback

- Some of the senators on the list also happen to be recipients of large sums of campaign cash from the real estate industry, IBT adds. Bob Corker —who admitted on Monday that he authored the provision—and Ron Johnson, who has an estimated net worth of $36 million. Along with Sen.
- Trump—who has claimed repeatedly and falsely that the tax bill will cost him and his rich friends "a fortune"—could also see a nice profit from the last-minute addition to a bill already stuffed with corporate giveaways. As IBT notes, Trump "owns or directs over 560 companies" that will get a tax cut thanks to the real estate pass-through provision.
I'm a HuffPost reporter who just finished up a months-long investigation into school voucher programs that are championed by Betsy DeVos. Many of these schools discriminate against LGBTQ and teach inaccurate, unscientific curriculums. AMA.

- Most of these programs have a remarkably low level of transparency, so I set out to document what curriculum they use and whether or not they have discriminatory policies for LGBTQ students. Along the way, I found that a huge chunk of Christian schools in these programs use inaccurate, unscientific curriculum that teaches creationism and hatred for other religions. I also found that about 14 percent of religious schools in these programs have policies that either denigrate homosexuality or explicitly bar LGBTQ students from admission.
- I’m a former Ohio resident, and last year I did an afternoon’s worth of research into Ohio charter school academic performance as compared with public schools, using data from the state of Ohio. My research - reported here - indicated that over 80% of Ohio charter schools ranked in the lowest 25% by academic rankings.
- So with Catholic Schools I know there are layers of oversight, and another major factor being a complete lack of for-profit motive workers from say Sisters of Notre Dame.

- In fact, I think in many cases, your morality is deeply lacking if all you want is a child born but not a child fed, not a child educated, not a child housed.
- Our AG, Josh Shapiro, will be taking legal actions against FCC decision to rule back Net Neutrality laws, there's no more details on it yet but he was one of the AG who sent a letter calling on the FCC to delay the vote and to allow the investigation of the fake comments to continue.
- I'm hoping that my vote there will make a difference in turning it blue- and on that topic as well- one of PA state senator, Daylin Leach , is running in the 2018 primaries for congress, for District 7. On that topic, I'll be relocating from District-15 to District-7 this month, PA District 7 is one the of the most gerrymandered districts in the nation, I attached an image of it if you're curious.
