Indeed political theories where government has very little power over the normal lives of individuals seem to reflect the sentiment that humans are capable of responsible liberty. The non-aggression principle to me is an admittance that your neighbor must be afforded the same respect for their non-aggressive actions as you should be for yours. There seems to always be some degree of piety in those that insist on less liberty (more government regulation and law) for things they disagree with. I suppose a good measurement of how much a polity loves liberty is the amount of government regulation and law there is. It seems the love of liberty is lacking greatly in the U.S., unfortunately.
