Joy Villa Is A What?!

in #politics7 years ago (edited)

When Joy Villa stepped onto the red carpet just weeks after Trump's inauguration as President, her bold MAGA dress turned a lot of heads(one way or the other).

At a time when it seemed the entire entertainment industry was on a collective mission to deligitimize the new President, the half of the country who voted for him was relieved to find a celebrity who shared their views.

Prior to the MAGA dress, Villa was relatively unknown. But shortly afterward, her 2014 EP I Make The Static went to Number 1 on the Amazon and iTunes digital rankings.

Fast forward to October. Amid rumors Villa might be seeking to run for congress, President Trump himself wishes her good luck in her political career.

Suddenly Joy Villa was one to watch in the congressional races. She has stage presence, charisma, and she's captured the hearts of the Trump voters.

While scrolling through Twitter the other day, I see Joy has started a periscope broadcast, apparently to clarify some of her religious views.

Being a Christian usually isn't damaging to a Republican's political career. Depending on where you run it can actually be an asset. During the first four minutes of the video, Villa and her friend talk about being Christians and about their own personal religious journeys.

Then shortly after the four minute mark, the ladies turn the conversation in a different direction. As turns out. Joy Villa's big confession is that she is a scientologist!

Wait! What?

Right away the comments got very interesting...

After spending about ten minutes trying to defend this science-fiction based mega cult (where you can spend millions of dollars learning the secrets of the universe), Joy tries to reel it back in by congratulating her fans on the one year anniversary of Trump's win.

That's when she finds out her scientologist friend is a bit of a never-trumper. uh-oh!

I'm pretty sure this is a crash and burn for the Joy Villa campaign, but who knows. I guess anything is possible these days.
