I think Jeremy Scahill made the right call by not appearing on the show with Milo, as his purpose is basically, like you say, to 'trigger' and to troll.
And what happened on the Maher's show? Well, he succeeded in 'triggering' the other guests.
I'm not sure if i see the value in having a debate with Milo.
I think he has every right to express his opinion, no matter how disagreable. However, besides baiting, triggering and trolling others, I don't find much value in what he has to say. He seems to only have an opinion, often extreme opinions, in order to simply have his opinion be heard.
