A while back i watched TED talk show where the speaker was trying to explain why nations may go to war to secure water resources or guard their own from occupation. At first i felt like this was a joke given that our planet is 70% Water.
Last couple days our city has had acute water shortage and because nobody was prepared for the shortage 80% of inhabitants were not prepared and didn't have tanks or any way to store water in their homes luckily i had a 450 litre tank.
The City-wide panic was apocalyptic as people were willing to di anything to have some clean water for bathing, washing clothes and even cooking but the city authority was unreachable and this made matters worse. Never in my life see people almost turn on each other over something i considered to be so abundantly available in the world.
Boreholes were like goldmines with people charging a pretty dime for the water. And this proved to me that its possible to go to war over water!
Our planet is %70 water but it's not drinkable, who knows maybe scientists will find a way to make sea water consumable and we'll avoid this disaster !e
They already desalinate sea water and make it drinkable. Since it is cheaper to make fresh water drinkable, less investment has been put into desalination. If the need happened, then desalination would become cheaper. However, I would guess that since most places have a severe rainy season, the first step would be figuring out how to store water during those periods to have it last longer.
it will be for water if not for cryptocurrency lol :D
I think there is an abundance on water if it were for our techonologies being implemented accordingly. Here in the west our structual systems in place already provide properly, except that if some disaster is to happen to our installation systems it can have tremendous consequences. As for the east, its not profitable enough to help them out (this is not a justified thought by my opinion!).
