New York Times issued an apology after publishing a cartoon that was deemed "anti-Semitic" by critics.
So what was the cartoon in question? Well here it is. Brace yourself for the horrors of this abomination of a drawing.
OH THE HORRORRRRRR!!! Grab yourself some eye bleach for that.
Ok all the sarcasm aside, I think this is a purposeful misreading of the content inside the cartoon. I get that jews were characterized as dogs, monkeys, spiders, and etc... in Nazi Germany, but I don't think this was the cartoonist's intent. Trump's policies benefit Israel massively. He's pulled out of the Iran Nuclear Deal and placed more sanctions on them, and there's video evidence of Netanyahu bragging that he convinced Trump to pull out of the agreement. Trump has also moved the embassy to Jerusalem, and approved Israel's acquisition of the Golan Heights.
What I got out of this cartoon wasn't a blatant hatred of the Jews, but a right-wing asshole being a seeing-eye dog to a blind Trump (who has no ideology). Had the dog been Vladimir Putin, which there are many cartoons that have lampooned on that nothingburger conspiracy theory, nobody would even bat an eye. Had it been Muhammad Bin Salman, nobody would bat an eye.
Criticizing Netanyahu isn't the same as attacking the Jewish people, the same way criticizing Obama isn't an attack on black people, or criticizing Trump isn't an attack on retarded people. (I couldn't resist. Lol)
