Hello!!
A Presidential election is coming soon in Nigeria and it seems like the two main contenders are the present President Buhari and a former vice President Atiku. I am not really into politics but i just felt that has a patriotic citizen of the country, what the government does should concern me because i will be affected one way or the other.
It seems to me that the current Nigerian leadership is not working. In their party manifesto (APC), they claim to be a welfare party, saying that they will take care of the poor, but yet it seems to me that the rate of poverty has gone up seen they took office. The number of people who walk up to me almost any where i go begging, has doubled seen they took office.
Some people might argue that crude oil price which is our main source of income came down since they came into to office and so that affected their ability to carry out their welfarism the way they wanted it. Well maybe so, but i will not agree with this explanation, but i will just leave it alone.
But another thing they said that they will deal with when they come into office which to me, they have not been able to deal with, is fighting corruption. No doubt, they showed signs of fighting corruption by recovering huge amounts of stolen funds from several past government office holders, politicians and so on, but they have not been able to make the masses to key into the fight against corruption.
These days corruption in Nigeria seems to be more than it was in the previous adminstration. At least in the pass adminstration we know that there was corruption, but people hide it and when they where caught they just keep quiet about and hid themselves in shame. But in this present adminstration when people are guilty of corruption, they try to defend it and if you are not careful you can be attacked by them for pointing out their corruption practices.
Recently i went to queue up for fuel in a petrol filling station and the manage of that filling station what allowing people to shunt the queue and when he was confronted about it, he said that he had the right to do what ever he likes.
Things were not like this in the last administration as corrupt as they where, so to me, this present Nigerian government has failed in their fight against corruption, because their fight against corruption is not working with the citizens by changing their corrupt ways.
Another thing i see has failure of this present government is the issue of fuel scarcity. Usually in Nigeria, during the Christmas period, fuel is always scarce. There are different school of though has to why there is always scarcity of petrol during the Christmas season.
One of the school of thought has it that this is the time of the year when the marketer go on break for the Christmas holidays and distribution of fuel tends to reduce, making it scarce. Another school of thought says, that the reason why fuel is scarce during the Christmas season because sellers hoard the fuel thinking the price might go up because of the Christmas celebration.
But normally after the Christmas the scarcity of fuel is eases out but in this present administration, has i write this well after Christmas and even new year, there is still scarcity of petrol and we have not been able to get a good reason why this problem is still on. So this is another reason why i think that this present Nigerian government has failed.
Finally this present government said that they will improve security in the country, but up till now security is still a big issue. They said that they will crush Boko-haram completely by the end of their first year in office. We are approaching towards the end of their 3rd year in office and they have not be able to crush them out completely.
We still hear of pockets of boko-haram terrorist attacks here and there. But this is not really what i want to point out with the insecurity situation in Nigeria. What i want to point out is that, the insecurity has even increased with a new group call Fulani militia, some people also call them Fulani herdsmen with arms. They go about sacking communities and killing people, something like ethnic and religious cleansing.
The present president is a Fulani man, Buhari and so people are of the opinion that he is the one sponsoring them because, the Hausa Fulani people of Nigeria think that they own Nigeria.
Though this fulani attacks started towards the ending of the last administration, but they have grown bolder and more determined in their attacks in this present adminstration, sacking and killing people of different tribes in their communities and the government of the day has not done anything to address.
They keep giving accuses why they cannot take action against the Fulani militia. If you want to know more about it, you can google about the fulani militia issue in Nigeria. It is really terrible. I could have shared some photos of people they killed recently in a community of a state in Nigeria called Benue State, but i don't want to share it because it is very disturbing. So again this present Nigerian government has failed to provide security has the promised.
The reason why i am sharing this is because i came across this campaign photo of the former vice President Atiku Abubakar on a friends facebook page, who from all indications is the main contender of the forthcoming Election with the incumbent President MUHAMMADU Buhari. So it reminded me about the flaws of the present Nigerian leadership.

I have heard about many disturbances , economic hardships, corruption and political instabilities in Nigeria during the former adninistration of Ex.prez Goodluck and taught they will cease in the current adninistration but it's a surprise I'm hearing the same story.Similar things like corruption abound in Ghana too under the former administration, I wonder when corruption will cease in Africa @yaanivapeji
It is sad @collinz. That is why we have to taken our destinies in our own hands instead of relaying on the government because they are just terrible.
