The people with the HIVE fist of defiance raised in the air are clearly advocates of liberty, justice, reform and all that is good; So, I would say that it must the person sitting on the right side of the image who is the target of the fists of defiance.

Interesting ... have not heard the term "Hive fist" before. Thanks for passing that on.
The very first version I saw of the new HIVE logo I encountered had a fist of defiance embedded in the image. The image was appropriate as people were defying Justin Sun's take over of SteemIt.com.
I looked for the logo but couldn't find it. My guess is that many users on HIVE were turned off by the image. I don't like clinched fists.
The problem with the fist of defiance is that, when fists start flying, it is difficult to tell who is the oppressor and who is the oppressed.
In your image: The "peaceful protestors" see themselves holding up fists of defiance against the lady that they were "struggling against."
Objective minds are likely to see the people waving the clinched fists as the oppressor and the person struggled against as the victim.
I looked around and couldn't find the logo. I hope it is because people on HIVE are turned off by the clinched fist image.
Imagine the logo below morphed into the HIVE logo. It is from
