An Open Letter To Mr. Donald J. Trump | Part 2

in #politics8 years ago (edited)

Pre-Writing Disclaimer: as the title indicates, this is a political post. It is intended marginally as satire, in the sense of the informal/mildly disrespectful language, but also as a serious critique of the President of the United States in the content.

Mr. Trump,
I’m a bit late to the party, so I’m sure you’re already aware that your firing of James Comey has upset quite a few people, across party lines. Anybody with a brain of their own is at least mildly irked by the timing, and everyone questions your motives. I’d like to break down in simple terms why we’re so upset. I’m trying my best to dumb it down for you, but I’m sorry if some of these words go over your head.
I know that you claim his firing is due to his botching of the Clinton investigation, but nobody believes that was truly your motive [1, 2]. In the hypothetical situation that you are being honest (which I doubt), I applaud your decision. Comey should have been fired under Obama for his incompetence in the handling of that investigation. However, your timing seems a little strange to the outside observer. It would have made a whole lot more sense if you had fired him after taking office.
The Russia thing is not going away. The best decision for you and your public image (read: approval ratings) is to appoint a special prosecutor and allow the investigation to take place unhindered (assuming your insistence of innocence is true.) The more you attempt to take the story out of the news cycle, the more the press will talk about it. As stubborn as you are, I’d have thought you would recognise that same trait in others. The people deserve the truth, and if the FBI is hindered from finding it, the press will. If it comes out against you I’m certain you’ll just deem it fake news, though.
Watch your step, my friend. Even the GOP is getting a little weary of your intelligence decisions [3]. It’s time to rethink your approach.
Sincerely,
Your not-so-secret hater, @youngjae

I don't read into any news at all since 2016, but great piece of "satire" :)
