It's not a problem with republicans per say, but more so of collectivists. It comes in all flavors racism, nationalism, Marxism/communism, etc. It's the complete ignorance of the individual, and his power to rationally act.
Punish criminals (people who commit aggression against persons and property) not peaceful people, that you deem a member of some arbitrary collective group.
