A mini shoot in De Melkhal, Enschede

There’s something fun about meeting someone for the first time and immediately pointing a camera at them. That was the case with Tijmen, the newest member of the Wirelab crew. Fresh energy, easygoing vibe, and not camera shy at all.

Wirelab brought me in again to take some updated team portraits, and we chose De Melkhal in Enschede as our location. If you know the place, you know why. It’s got that raw industrial feel, lots of natural light, and these amazing pops of color. Perfect for the kind of visual storytelling I love.

A place that gives back

De Melkhal used to be a dairy factory. Now it’s a mix of repurposed workspaces, creative spots, and architectural leftovers. There’s texture in every corner. Metal fences, tiled walls, clean white stairs, and that yellow and black mural that just asks to be photographed. It’s the kind of place where the environment does half the work for you.

We kept it simple. No big setup. Just Tijmen, his casual fit, and a relaxed shoot. I’d rather work with personality than perfection anyway.

In Ruben they trust: (;p)

Big thanks to Wirelab for always giving me creative freedom. It makes a huge difference when the people you work with actually care about visuals and trust your eye.

Let me know what you think. Got a favorite frame? Ever shot in De Melkhal yourself? Would love to hear how you approach locations like this.

Cheerfs,
Ruben
