The ninth book "the art of dreaming" almost completely describes the spiritual experience of the author, received in dreams. His teacher don Juan explained to his student how to train in order to turn a normal dream into a manageable one. The essence of the technique was to relax all muscles of the body and stop the internal dialogue. Almost identical practice only more adapted to the modern rhythm of life later appeared in the book of Teun Maresa "the Scream of the eagle". He, like Castaneda belonged to a line of ancient mages wishing to convey to mankind the mystical heritage of their ancestors.

The main goal of the exercise is to relax all muscle groups of the body. Conveniently located on the bed with closed eyes, you need to focus on the toes and sharply squeeze them until a strong tension. Now you have to relax your fingers and gradually move up the body. After alternately relax all your muscles attention should be focused on the muscles of the head. Here you also need to achieve complete relaxation. If it seems that there is still tension in some parts of the body, this part of the practice can be repeated several times. Further attention should be paid to the process of breathing. This is the first cycle, and it is necessary to make 10-12. After that, inhaling as much oxygen as possible, a sharp exhalation through the mouth is performed. By calming the breath and relaxing the body, all the attention is put on the process of thinking. Now the main task is to stop thinking. For this we need to concentrate on the dark screen, which always occurs as soon as lowered eyelids. Peering into the blackness it is necessary to imagine that in any part of the screen there is a light spot. It gradually grows, increasing in size, and after a few seconds completely fills the entire field of view. Light comes from everywhere, enveloping the consciousness of man. The next moment a person enters the space of light in a mystical way. This action is considered the beginning of penetration into the dream plot.

Now need to do the last step, which depends on whether the sleep or conscious mind turns on, and people just fall asleep. Should mentally announce a declaration of intent: "Lord, I'm coming here." Speaking these words, it is forbidden to think about the essence of these words, turning them into a standard internal dialogue. Greater efficiency can be achieved, while imagining that the man was transported to the Cathedral, where every word is repeatedly reflected from the surface of the walls, turns into an echo.

Saying several times the declaration of intention with the "off " mind you need to wait for the beginning of sleep. This technique must be performed every day, only then will experience, allowing every night to penetrate into the wonderful world of lucid dreams.
