RE: Those Who Plan to Start Prepper Homestead AFTER the SHTF

in #prepper6 years ago

The one flaw I see with many preppers is their belief that if/when the shtf, that there will not be government thugs that are making it that scenario, coming farm to farm to eject or worse the people living there while confiscating whatever they have stored away. I also believe that there will be bands of people searching for such places to loot and take over.

Sort:

I've seen one homestead, in South Africa, built with think stone walls, with slits for the rifles, a well inside and food for about 30 or so, for nearly a year. I was invited to join if anything happened (at time white gov stepped down.

The problem you mention is immense, but it might work out in the sense that bands will extract a 'tax' in foods etc for protecting a number of such homesteads...

I am not familiar with Africa, but hopeful that would help them defend. Here in the U.S. they have to many weapons that would lay waste to stone walls.

It is an immense problem, one I hope never comes and is just the worries of an aging man who sees to much corruption and allows his mind to worry to much.

You are sounding very anti government, just saying. :-)

heh heh

For what its worth, if it gets to that point I also believe many in the government will find out just how valued they are by the same crews I am talking about. Tools usually don't get they are tools until their value is gone. It is one of the few reasons to smile if such a thing happens, knowing that those who helped facilitate it will usually meet fates that are among the most horrible. Bolsheviks anyone?

For every action, there is! and all that, We all know what is coming, the sooner the better, you will be one of my brothers all the same, even if you no longer like me, I still like you!

even if you no longer like me, I still like you!

You are liked as well my friend.

Thank you kindly. :-)

The way I see it, a sustainable homestead will depend on its ability to generate value for the surrounding community. Call me naive, but if the self-proclaimed authorities ever show up there better be huge alliances with the locals already, all sworn to protect the ark of knowledge and abundance.
I have long moved off the idea to live an isolated life in abundance. It is meant to be shared and will echo in genuine loyalty by those who see and feel its direct merits to their own life.

As long as the government is not the threat, I agree.
