They know more about us than we know about ourselves. This is their business. Personal data. And the users are products to them. They sell the personal data of their users to advertisers and to who knows to who. And they certainly deliver personalised adveritesements. Sometimes this can even be good.

I totally agree, business seems to be good for them at the moment but as with everything it leads to a lot of manipulation. I remember the early days of Cartoon Network and watching the Powerpuff girls etc with my kids - in between the cartoons were loads of brand advertisements and shock horror these are the brands my kids now buy, even though they are more expensive than an equivalent brand that might be better or unbranded. Very scary to see what impact it has and i think that for childrens television or similar, it should be an advertising free space. Won't happen though, purely because of the greed involved
