Hey man! Excellent content! What I would add (which you alluded to) is balance first. Work those faders until you find a good balance, then the problems that are solved with EQ become quite apparent.

Getting a good balance is necessary while mixing. But doesn't really help out while getting clarity in the mixing. But like they say there is no hard or fast rule while mixing.
Indeed. My point is that an unbalanced mix can certainly hurt clarity. As a technical example, too much low end can eat into too much microdynamics, which can be painful for drops and choruses. Keep up the good content!
