The covid-19 pandemic has changed the situation of work globally, which is also true for the programming industry. The growing demand for remote working and technical knowledge has changed the way we used to work at offices during normal days. We all hope for the return of those days, while we wait for a cure (or escape).

We have been through tough times this whole year. But for some industry it was a fine moment, a good opportunity to exploit the situation. This led to rise in ecommerce, video conferencing softwares, movies and games.

As the working situation and condition changed, so did the trends in demand for technologists for institional works. All the businesses and institutions jumped in to get better infrastructure for their required work.

Here are the list of three such skills that boomed during the pandemic.

Cybersecurity Engineer

Security is the most important factor for any company or institution and as the pandemic rises so is the threat to cyber security and the demand for Cybersecurity Engineers. Covid-19 has given rise to a lot of phishing attacks and luring people into the trap, thus increasing the demand for a secure infrastructure. Oftentimes cybercriminals were found exploiting the coronavirus pandemic as a means to conduct phishing and cyberattacks on individuals and institutions alike. The cybercriminals also targeted healthcare facilities including database of patients and healthcare workers.

Systems Engineer

Systems engineering was expected to rise, and yes it did confirming that organizations need technologists with the ability to help them create online infrastructure that is bug-free and smoothly executed. The organisations were also looking for remote working priciples at the same time.

Game Development

Demand for PC games and gaming consoles has been instrumental in driving the growth of the market. This is much due the closing of schools and parks. For children it was a no go, but games. This led to rise in Game development industry with lots of developers jumping in and old games with lots of updates. This also gave push to Game Development Software Market with companies such as Audiokinetic, Autodesk, Epic Games, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Playtech, Scirra, The Game Creators, Unity Technologies, and ZeniMax Media, etc.

Hope this pandemic end soon. See y'all at the office soon.
