Same amazing art released completely free, as long as you use Unreal Engine to develop your game. Although I highly doubt the content is worth $12 million, that is the value they have put on it. They have done this in the past for other games for Unreal developers. Really fantastic opportunity but much of it has a very limited use as unless you can create art in the same quality and style you are limited to their assets only. Something that is very difficult in game development.
Epic claims to have more characters and assets coming over time. Right now the pack includes 20 heroes with unique additional skins, animations, dialog, sound effects, and 1,500 environmental assets.
You can find the assets here but using it in other game engines like Unity I believe is against the license for these assets. Although they are free they are exclusive to their engine only.
What is Unreal Engine?
Unreal is the popular engine used by AAA game studios to develop 3D games. Some of the most popular games today use Unreal like Fortnite, Quake, BioShock, PUBG.
Unreal is free to use for indies if you make less than $3,000/quarter per game. After that, it is a fixed 5%. I never used Unreal myself but I have done some development with Unity, which I love the engine it is a huge mess along with the company behind it.

Epic have actually been pretty cool lately. Fortnite is a fun as hell and them releasing everything for free is a nother reason why i would support them and their game. Also werent you playing Fortnite some time ago?
Yes, my son is hugely into it. It is the first real shooter he has been able to play. The closest has been Overwatch but it is very dumbed down.

The designs are really good. But those unreal character for $12,000,000. That is way too high
There are a ton of assets, and AAA 3D modeling is expensive af, but I highly doubt it is really 12M, they likely took the max rate, and overestimated everything to come up with that figure for PR.

$12 million is way too low a value for this epic art, just as $20 thousand is way too high a value for Bitcoin right now.
Watch (and play) more top shelf games on Unreal Engine like Fortnite and PUBG. $12 mil is cheap!

I wonder if they will cover the bill for the pc I would need to render such game art... Or am I wrong and onboard graphics will be fine? Another thought is , how many people will try unreal engine just to use the art
