The simplest way to cost effectively store, serve, backup, and archive a virtually infinite amount of media, web content, images, and static files for your web applications.
DigitalOcean just announced plans for a storage service. Hopefully, this means there's a better alternative than to use a DO's droplet and connect it to Amazon's S3 services.
Between DO's Object Storage and learning about Siacoin, I would be potentially interested in finally moving to an online storage service. Being able to setup my own personal dropbox without spending a ton would be nice.
Current price list of online storages:
Storage Provider | Monthly Storage Cost | Download Bandwidth Cost |
---|---|---|
Digital Ocean Object Storage | coming soon | coming soon |
Sia | $10 | $5 |
Amazon S3 | $115 | $460 |
Google Cloud | $100 | $550 |
Microsoft Azure | $120 | $435 |
More competition between the online storage services, the more consumer benefit. Let's hope this move by DigitalOcean will bring Amazon to lower the price of Amazon S3.
As long as the pricing is competitive this will definitely be a must for me. ^_^
