in #promo-steem7 years ago (edited)

Steemit has given us so much, so me and some of my guys @magdnrobinson, @gidionline, @egetex and @ifioklee decided we needed to give back to steemit by promoting steemit to people who have never heard of it before in the little way that we can, hoping that the next meet-up we organise would be major. The steemit meet-up 5 for newbies held on the 27th of january 2018 at Nuco primary school akwaibom state, uyo.

steemit all the way!!! Come for the money, stay for the community.

The meet-up was meant to empower newbies and enable them become self depent also to enable newbies understand the basic principles of the steemit platform. They were first made to understand that steemit is not one of those ponzi schemes that require you to put in money to get an increased amount of your investment. We were able to emphasize the need for quality and original materials preventing plagiarism. We educated the newbies about getting the right tags that suits their post because tags increases the visibility of a post, we told them about bidding bot, we gave them reasons why they can use it and also reasons why not to use it, but they were encouraged to post quality material not depending on the bidding bot because we have seen instances were people lost “sbd" trying to purchase votes from bidding bot.

We were able to introduce some easy way to succeed on steemit which include joining different communities because steemit is a social media platform and therefore socializing is very important also by joining contest. They were told about utopia and that they can give suggestions on how to improve the performance of open source systems, and if your suggestion is accepted you can earn more. They were told that the suggestions most people give to utopia now adays is about steemit but they can give suggestion about other open source softwares. They can also give bug reports on the open source software.

The newbies were also told about the difference between steem, steem dollar and steem power, and that steem is the main currency, steem dollar is just like a short term reward while steem power is like a long term holding because soon the value of steem will skyrocket and those your steem power could be changed to steem if you want to. They were then encouraged that even if they get low upvotes, consistency and patience is needed.
The meet up was a success.
