to create an account has a small fee associated with it (around $5 USD) payable in cryptocurrency. If you want to pay more, the excess is used to add STEEM to the account.A while back you asked if there was a way around the bottleneck of getting a SteemIt account. I had forgotten that there is another way. I ran across this today, you can use @blocktrades to onboard some DigiByte members.

Thanks Mike, I appreciate this. Over the last few months I have been working closely with a large group from the #DigiByte Community helping to on-board them and have given them all the options available to them. Sadly, I feel that I can only do so much and simply give them as many options as I can to join. I am extremely conscious that I don't won't to give any specific method for fear of something going wrong. All I do is direct them to the Steemit FAQ page and point them to the various methods of joining. That way I don't expose myself to any specific method should it fail to work for whatever reason.
