[Important Note: At the end of this Post you will find the Chapters Index, were you can find detailed information of any of the topics you would like to learn]
My main aim here with this full Steemit guide of 11 Chapters is to give new visitors, new users on steemit, minnows, (and for the ones that have been here for a week or 2 and are struggling to earn some rewards), all the needed information to help them understand the steemit platform and steem blockchain as much as possible and as easier as possible, and thus help them make their way on Steemit. This means at the end, more people achieving success on steem, more stories for the world that steem is achieving freedom and empowering people, as well as returning the power to the hands of people. This are the aims of its creator @dan Larimer, which is mentioned by @teamsteem in his welcome to steemit post.
So, for those of you who have been here for less than 20 or 30 days, on behalf of the steemit community, let me extend in a LOUD VOICE, a big WELCOME to you.
--
My aim is to help people understand: the most important concepts, the actions they will do on the platform, the things that they will interact with, learn about the entire ecosystem were steem is being developed, as well as give them some personal advice on how to contribute with the steemit community by adding value, and thus earn rewards.
Since there are lots of things to learn on Steemit and the steem blockchain (and you will see its a never ending learning process), at the end of this Chapter #7 (and at the end of every chapter), I will enumerate the learning topics I will be discussing in the entIre series of 11 posts/Chapters.
All this topics I will be talking about are things I have learned from the very first day I signed up. There are many things to learn in order to make our way on the platform, and for sure I will miss some things.
This is because when we start doing things on repetition, we forget about them, and we just do them automaticaly, so feel free to ask any questions on the comments section. Also if you are a Plankton, Dolphin or Whale reading the post, your contribution, suggestions here will really help new People (Minnows) to make their way, and thus make steemit grow and make it a better platform every day.
So, lets get started with Chapter/Post #7, and learn about "When and How to use Voting bots to upvote Quality Posts that you would like to be reached by more people - And how important bots like Cheetah are helping avoid Plagiarism"

Now that we have gone through 6 past Chapters (see at the button of this email all the past Chapters/Posts), its time to learn about Voting Bots.
What are Voting Bots? Why are they here for? How to make best use of them by upvoting quality posts that deserve more visibility? This are some of the questions I will try to answer on this post.
As always, your comments, suggestions and questions are very welcomed, and I enjoy upvoting quality comments and suggestions that will help improve the understanding of the post (I will make update when needed).
--
So, lets begin with the first 2 questions.
1- What are upvoting Bots? Why are they here for?
Upvoting bots are bots created by Steemians which purpose it to increase the upvote power delivered on certain quality posts that deserve to be reached by more people.
For the purpose of this post about voting bots, for ones who don't now what voting power and steem power is, lets summerize it as the more steem power we have + the more remaining voting power available, makes the difference in the amount of influence and amount of SBD an upvote we make is worth.
[We discussed the meaning of Voting Power, Steem Power on Chapter/Post #3: Where do Resources Funds on Upvotes come from? [ https://steemit.com/steem/@gold84/chapter-3-of-11-understanding-where-the-funds-from-upvotes-come-from-focusing-on-steem-power-and-reward-pool-this-is-part-3-of ]. You can read this chapter to learn about Steem Power and Voting power in detail.
So, if we have just started on the platform our level SP (Steem Power) is almost close to zero, so once we post something, and upvote it, our upvote might be not even worth 1 cent, so it will just be visible for some seconds or minutes in the "New" section. To give a good aproximate idea, every 100 steem power, with the current price as of dec 18 2017, our vote at 100% voting power would be around 1.5 cents.
For this reason is that if we are new, or if we have been here for some time, and we want our posts to appear at the top of on the top 5 of the Hot section, we'll need to invest some SBD or Steem funds on Voting Bots.
The good news is that there are a lot of voting bots today, and that @yabapmatt , a very known developer on the steemit community and the steem blockchain, has created a Bot Tracker, were we can see most of the bots that are currently bidding, and other special bots also in the platform. We can also see which user is bidding on each bot, and the time when the bot will make a new upvote, as well as many other features. We will talk about this in this same chapter, in item #3 below.
Thank you very much @yabapmatt for this great development contribution for the steemit community and the steem blockchain!
If our posts appear on the Hot Section for 1 to 2 hours or even 3 hours, we have the chance that our quality post is seen by many more people, and thus reach our objective of getting the visibility we wanted for it, so more people can get benefits of it.
Sometimes, a great quality post adding value to the community + Good Visibility for some time + Written on the correct time, can help a user get more upvotes, get more people to get interested in what we are doing thus decide to follow us, get a good upvote from the bot that will return our investment to the bot back, and at the end we'll be getting more rewards.
A special thing to mention is just what @elear pointed out in one of his latest posts about the heavy steem power delegations happening to voting bots instead of doing this for tons of promising projects that need some help to get started.
And many of this projects are so amazing that they will definitely help the entire steem blockchain ecosystem to grow, just as the @utopian-io development is magically doing. It is bringing thousands of people to contribute for the benefit of the steem blockchain and steemit platform. In the case of @utopian-io people contribute to opensource projects, by developing, making improvements, making suggestions, findings bugs and many more things.
I definitely recommend you to read @elear 's complete post about this to take your own conclusions on this:
https://steemit.com/whales/@elear/whales-wake-up-please
2- How to use Voting Bots with quality posts and to gain more visibility?
My believe is that if we have something that will add value to people on steemit, to the community in general, or to steemit and it deserves to be reached by as many people as possible, this is the time to use the voting bots. They will definitely help us reach more people. If we use bots in a smart way, on the right time, the complete total of our invested money will be returned to us via the upvote, and sometimes we will get a profit too.
But at the end of the day, the best benefit of the Voting Bots is reaching the targeted people you thought of for the post.
Lets now focus on how to use this bots. The way to use a voting bot is to:
A- Go to our steem wallet (I have explained all the wallet functionalities on a previous post/Chapter #2 "Add Link to Chap 2")
B- On the STEEM DOLLARS or STEEM areas (According to what the voting bot is accepting. This can be easily checked on the Bot Tracker we are explaing on item #3 below. It has a steem logo when it accepts steem), we go to our balance at the right, and click on the tab.
C- Then we click on Transfer
D- On the "to:" field, we add the bot name without the "@"
E- On the "amount:" we add the amount we want to bid. Needs to be the same or above the minimum bid accepted by the bot
F- On the "memo:" we add the link to the post we want the upvote to go to.l
G- At last we'll be prompted to enter the active key password to make the transaction
The reason I am not adding images for this, is because I already found a great quality post from @jerrybanfield with a video and written tutorial explaining how to use voting bots, and some of other important reasons for using them.
Thanks Jerry Banfield for this great contribution!
Here is his full detailed post: https://steemit.com/steem/@jerrybanfield/boost-posts-on-steem-with-upvote-bots
3- How to use Bot Tracker by @yabapmatt to help you choose the best bidding bot
The bot tracker is a very important tool for the following main reasons:
A- It helps people know the bots that are really operating (Be careful with messages received of people you don't know offering their bot service that does not appear here)
B- It helps people know when bots will make the next upvote
C- It helps to know the amount that has been bidded for a certain bot on the current round, and on a previous round
D- It helps to decide which are the best bots to use on a given time
For sure it has many more advantages and usages I can't remember of now. We'll for sure start learning more by using it. Your comments, additions, suggestions below are very welcomed, and I enjoy upvoting quality comments that contribute to the better of steemit and the blockchain.
@yabapmatt its creator has explained about the Steem Bot Tracker he created. There is no better thing than to learn things from a primary source, in this case the creator. I definitely recommend you to follow @yabapmatt and you will start learning a lot from his developments.
In his own words: "Yabap Matt thinks they provide a great service to minnows and new users by allowing us to get our posts out there and seen by more people and build our following".
Thanks for this great contribution to make steemit and the steem blockchain a better place every day.
Here is his complete detailed post about the Steem Bot Tracker:

4- Important bots to reduce spam and double posting spending on Steemit, like @cheetah created by @anyx
@anyx has an academic background, and with this he shows straight as looking for ways to avoid/reduce plagiarism. This is the main reason he created @cheetah. To fight plagiarism on the Steem Blockchain. What @cheetah does, is fight against posts that are a copy of another post. Same for comments. @cheetah also makes sure we people on Steemit follow the posting rules. There are certain specific rules of posting for certain categories, for instance the introduceyourself tag is intended to be used once by new people on the platform, or people who still did not introduce themselves.
There are other rules that can be found at: https://steemit.com/steemcleaners/@steemcleaners/abuse-guide-2017-update
@anyx states very clearly the reason @cheetah exists is to help improve the Steem Blockchain, and make steemit a better place. He is not looking for monetary incentives or profits for @cheetah in the short term rewards. What @anyx is looking for is the success of Steemit, because that will bring the highest success in the long run.
I definitely recommend you to read the full quality post by @anyx regarding the double spending problem and his creation of bot @cheetah . Many things about @cheetah are explained in more detail in the 2 posts below.
Here is the 1st post: https://steemit.com/steemit/@anyx/the-double-spending-problem-on-steemit
Also here is a great interview to @anyx from @inquiringtimes were @anyx explains how he started on the platform, he speaks about crypto in general, and why he built @cheetah for.
In his own words: "Cheetah is NOT a tool for censorship. Cheetah does not care about the ideas within your content, only if the content itself already exists elsewhere".
Definitely recommend you to check this 2nd post with the interview to learn more about this important bot for Steemit.
https://steemit.com/steemcleaners/@inquiringtimes/interview-with-anyx-witness-7-founder-of-cheetah-and-steemcleaners
Thanks @anyx for this quality contribution for Steemit and the steem blockchain.

5- What Important people on Steemit think about voting bots and self-votes
@elear on his post below mentions how many people are investing on voting bots by delegating their steempower to earn some rewards, and he makes emphasis on many great projects that are on the dark still, because they don't get the funds to get started. Their are many great initiatives by so many people waiting to be funded.
In @utopian-io for instance there are so many tasks from owners or project ideas to get started, and people place thousands and hundreds of thousands and millions of delegation in voting bots, and forget or don't even realize that the potential of thousands of creative and smart projects waiting to be funded are the real investments that can take steemit and the steem blockchain to the very top of all cryptos.
By saying this I @gold84 do not intend to compare with other cryptos. I just mention my belief on the power of the steem blockchain, and if all of us work together (developers, investors, quality content writters, contributors, whales, witnesses and so on), the steem blockchain will be the dream team of all cryptos and stoppable.
Here is @elear 's post with all its details.
https://steemit.com/whales/@elear/whales-wake-up-please
Thanks @elear for this very important post. I know you are really busy making @utopian-io better every day to really contribute for the growth of the entire blockchain, Steemit, and looking for ways with @utopian-io to incentivize investors, quality contributions, and much more. And thanks for your huge support for the 11 chapters full steemit guide!
I believe @elear that by the end of the year, if you really want to start building the community set of buildings for young kids that lost a family member very young, in your born town, you will definitely already have the resources to do it, at least to get the factory lots, and start the planning phase. Wish you the best on that project. And who knows if steem had already skyrocketed by then, and you can already have everything to start building the property too

@blocktrades in his post about voting abuse and ineffecvtive curation mentions that their are many complaints about vote buying, purchase of Steem delegations, self-voting, and many other things.
But a very important point @blocktrades emphasis in his own words: "Another related complaint I’ve seen is that “good posts” aren’t rising to the top of the trending page and topic pages like they should".
And this complaint is actually the most serious for him (and for many people on steemit, and my self @gold84), because 1 of the Steem’s priority promises is that it is a good place to discover great content.
In his post he makes a very important question if changing the downvoting rules can help fix the curation problems, and he mentions the critical things that need to solved, to help think about new proposals and ways to improve and find a solution to this situation.
Thanks for this great post @blocktrades and for bringing this very important situation to the eyes of many people on steemit. The more eyes that see this, I am convinced, the faster we can find solutions. And thanks for your huge support for the 11 chapters full steemit guide!

@lukestokes in his quality post regarding self voting scammy behavior explains the cons and pros of self voting.
He is definitely a pro of making the world a better place, and thus the steemit community.
He believes same as myself that voting ourselves has some good aspects, and other bad ones. Being this said, I think we should make a balance and think the reasons why we are voting ourselves and others, and if the cause is one we believe is a good one and thus will add more value to the community, then we do it.
Here is @lukestokes his full quality post goiung into detail with the pros and cons. By the way he explains a very interesting point of how his rewards changed when upvoting his root posts, compared to one week he did not, and he is looking for an explanation to that. And one important point he wrought is about the voting trails of people who vote, when lukestokes votes. So, not voting his own root posts, may reduce his rewards and also the curation rewards of his vote followers, and thus this may cause a loss of vote followers in the middle or long run. Very interesting to see the results and look for the causes. Great point here @lukestokes !
https://steemit.com/steemit/@lukestokes/self-voting-scammy-behavior-rational-roi-or-something-else
Thanks @lukestokes for always being with your help, opinions and suggestions to help make Steemit a better place every day, and thanks for your huge support for the 11 chapters full steemit guide!
--
@cryptographic also thinks that making a balance on voting ourselfs and others is a positive thing.
If we look at it as an investor of the steem blockchain, and if we are doing quality contributions, and helping others learn what we know, it is a good thing to make a balancing voting to ourselves and others, always thinking about each vote, and that the cause of the vote is to make the steemit community and steem blockchain a better place.
Here is @cryptographic full quality post on this matter:
https://steemit.com/steemit/@cryptographic/enlightened-self-interest-and-steemit
Thanks @cryptographic for sharing this ideas to the steemit community and for your support on the full steemit guide!
--
I want to make a special mention for @extrospect that in the last month he is ranked #168 in the "TOP 200 effective Steemit curators who are actively support newcomers". He has been supporting new users on steemit, to help them gain trust on the platform.
Here is the post from @boddhisattva showing @extrospect doing this quality work for Steemit:
https://steemit.com/bisteemit/@boddhisattva/top-200-effective-steemit-curators-who-are-actively-support-newcomers-with-reputation-below-55-for-the-last-week-2017-12-11-2017
Thanks @extrospect for your support for new people on the Steemit community. This makes a huge difference on their perception on steemit, and encourages them to continue working hard and to think about their own ways to add value in the community.

6-Some important projects about voting bots are @smartsteem / @smartmarket as well as @minnowbooster
Since I explained about the @minnowbooster on Chapter 5 in other ways to earn on Steemit ( https://steemit.com/steem/@gold84/chapter-5-of-11-learning-some-of-the-many-other-ways-to-earn-rewards-on-the-steemit-platform-and-steem-blockchain-this-is-part-5 ), I will give focus on @smartsteem / @smartmarket that are a creation of the Blockchain Developer @therealwolf !
With @smartsteem / @smartmarket , @therealwolf offers instant Up-Votes & Vote-Selling. As stated in the steembottracker created by @yabapmatt , the profit Earned from this bot is 135% guaranteed profit (after curation) by sending SBD/STEEM with URL in MEMO to @smartmarket .
By using @smartmarket you do not depend on other bids as in bid bots. You have a guaranteed 135% profit.
Thanks @therealwolf for your amazing contribution for the steemit community!

Hi @extrospect ! Glad you like this lat post. Your mention is well deserved, you are doing a great job by supporting new steemit users. Its impressive how their perception of the platform changes when they receive an upvote from you, and they really see that the platform is powerfuland people are open to help here. This motivates them to continue learning and see their ways to add value to the platform too!
Thanks for your feedback and continuos support on the 11 chapters full steemit guide!
Regards, @gold84

@hussykhan I am glad this chapter/post is helping you. You may also check any of the 6 previous chapter posts on my blog. Number 2 for instance is everything about the steem wallet, sbd, steem, how to use the functions, and how to keep your funds as safe as possible.
Thanks for your comment, and looking forward to see you around on future posts.

yes sure why not.Its a pleasure for me.
Thank you soo much for guiding us, learn a lot from your extreme valuable post
@kunalminotra glad this post is helping you learn. You may also check any of the previous 6 posts/chapters all intended for new people, minnows, and new visitors to learn and understand as much as possible about the steem blockchain and steemit, and thus help them make their way on the platform.
Thanks for your comment and support. Looking forward to hear from you on future posts/chapters.

Please reduce the amount of text in your posts and have a better structure. I know, you just have the best intention in mind - but please don't become like jerry and post 5 pages worth of text in one Post.
Try to make it short and juicy, so users actually get the message you're trying to send.
Also, as far as I can tell, you haven't mentioned @smartsteem / @smartmarket anywhere in your text. You don't have to, but if you want to make a complete list, then you should mention at least those two - Vote-Selling & instant upvotes with @smartmarket instead of the high possibility of having a negativ ROI on bid-bots. See below:
Hi @therealwolf ! Thanks for taking a loot at my Chapter/post 7 of the full steemit guide! Your feedback is very important to me. I am doing this full guide for new users on steemit, for new visitors (not signed up yet), for minnows, and for those people looking to understand and learn as much and as fast as possible about Steemit and the Steem Blockchain, and thus help them make their way on the platform.
If you check the chapter topics at the end, I show all of them, so that people can choose which chapter to read and what to learn. That is the reason these are long chapters. Because they are of different specific things about steemit and the steem blockchain.
I actually added part 6 on the Chapter, and added @smartmarket explanation there. The reason I did not add them initially on this chapter is because I was not speaking of any particular bot on this one.
Thanks for your time, and it would be great to get an upvote or support from you, in addition to the feedback, in case you think the full steemit guide I am making is achieving my aim.
Looking forward to your feedback and to continue hearing from you!
Regards, @gold84

Thank you @gold84 for making a transfer to me for an upvote of 4.63% on this post! Half of your bid goes to @budgets which funds growth projects for Steem like our top 25 posts on Steem! I'm going to be honest here, but I found this very hard to read.
It was hard to pull out the useful information from this post, and there was good information.
Perhaps consider reformating using headers and keeping the shoutouts in one section.
Thanks a lot for your quality posts!
