Ghana celebrated Republic Day on 1st July,2018 this week which apparently gave the nation a holiday on the next day. Lots of many different activities took place within the country which some included swimming,dancing,album launch,party,weddings and a lot more.
Others channeled their stay at their families residence to spend some good time. It was a holiday but not a free day for some of us. A group of health workers and friends had already joined hands and made good plans to cater for the health of our community.
On 02.07.18, we did organised not just an educational but also most interactive event which was solely designed to provide a good medical screening and preventive drugs in the center of Kumasi in the Ashanti region. This was done just at the forecourt of the lands commission in Adum Kumasi near Poku trading.
The event was dubbed City Wide Health Fair. It featured many health practitioners and supportters from the various health skills and departments. It felt so good to know that,all these health professionals who took part in this activity joined in their own will without taking a penny from us. Many thanks to every single one of them l hqve known for that beautiful gesture they showed.
This health fair featured areas of many citizens and problems we tbink are mostly reported at the various clinics and hospitals within the country. Lots of people really showed interest in taking parts of this so far as it was free.
More than 1000 people got screened freely by the help of the 36 health professionals that were invited.. I feel more than happy to be part of this wonderful team to pull ideas together for such a great humanity act. With this,l can see the future so bright.
Areas we undertook the screening included;
- Body Mass Index(BMI)
- Blood Pressure(BP)
- Blood Suggar
- Breast
- Cervical Cancer
- Prostrate Cancer
- Eye
- Nose,Ear,Throat
- Dental Check up
- Physical Therapy
- Heppatitis B
And all was absolutely free. This is what we wanted to do and it went as such. This was when l really realised people really do have problems but there seems to be financial constraints.

Whats Next?
This is my only motive why l shared this here on steemit. Not because l wanted to share the experience but l am beginning to see a brighter steem health screening here in Ghana someday. I want to help to see how best we can organise ourselves as one strong body and organise a big event of a kind. It is more than possible. There exist many health professionals in the steemitGhana who in their little effort can help make this a reality just as we have done before with SGP and the visit at Orphanage.

One of the best ways to reach the people with steem is when we engage ourselves in such activities that are of a great concern to our community. Making it well announced in all the various media houses in the city will surely give it a good recognition. Just as we did with city wide.
