Where I've Gone
It has been a while since I wrote my post. Have been a bit busy with some White Paper reviews, my recent participation in Dacsee a new e-ride hailing platform built on the Ethereum blockchain. Looks like Malaysia will be having their very first e-hailing system on the blockchain.
Many thanks to the man on the left, who is also known as @buzzlightyear in Steemit. From his built, you will know he is quite proud to show he has been a frequent at the gym and from my built, you know I have been a frequent to the eateries. He is one of the active crypto community movers in Malaysia and together with @ninjaboon aka Colbert, they run a crypto meetup in Oasis Discovery Centre or in short better known as ODC. ODC is an initiative to spark interest and develop communities that are involved in the technology circle.
Hey, its Promo-Steem
Then I was reminded of my duties as a steem ambassador, might as well turn this into an event to bring this social media tool to the community. I didn't have the actual count but approximately 90 people turned up ranging from people who have absolutely no knowledge about blockchain to the people who have submerged themselves into the system. Many familiar faces turned up. People from NEO, EOS, Bitcoin Cash, Miningpuppets, Ethereum community and other tech setups.
Blockchain 101
It was @buzzlightyear giving his colourful version of blockchain and how it works in a clear visual depiction that many can relate to. He talks about Springfield (yeah, the place where Bart Simpson grew up) and compares Bitcoins to doughnuts.
Then it was my turn. So, it would be rude if I don't introduce myself and do a bit of a jig to cheer the crowd. Afterall it was after a long day's work.
I introduced myself. Then, the live demo took place. @edward-ong took to stage and gave an example how real content creation takes place. So here is a snippet. The crowd loved him. He just turned 19 last Sunday so there was a quiet celebration at one corner after the event ended.
While I was giving my talk, the actual performance was posted and the result of the posting was shown to all. That how simple content creation takes place. Of course the question that some were quite shy to ask is, are they expected to be as good as @edward-ong to gain upvotes. Well, this is a community platform. If you are capable of getting likes on facebook, the same theory applies. These likes translates to upvotes on the steemit platform.
(@ninjaboon aka Colbert the man behind bitcoinmalaysia.com was one of the main organiser for the event, getting his fair share of attention and if you pay closer attention to the chap at the back, its @buzzlightyear trying to make everyone feel comfortable)
The crowd listening attentively when they heard that @elliebong made $315 through one of her posting and that translates to more than Ringgit Malaysia Eight Thousand (RM8,000) which was the pervailing rate for Steem Dollar at that point in time.
@aaronleang, @sireh and @bitrocker2020 were present to lend their support. @sireh is also a steem ambassador and @bitrocker2020 was the guy who moved #teammalaysia and Malaysia's sole witness in the Steem Blockchain.
Me trying to show the initiatives that we did as a community through various community building such as #steem-music and #steem-cartoon and how it has evolved with support and the increased exposure.
Selling Steem & SBD
The reason why I spoke and why this was the platform I picked was because Steem and Steem Dollar has real world utility. For that reason, the price of Steem and SBD has organic use that will spur its rise. If we do not question why Facebook is worth more than $400 billion and Instagram worth more than $100 billion as a social media platform, the Steem Blockchain should not be too far away. In fact, it has even more utility because it rewards the contributors.
Great presentation. Nice write-up. Looking forward to more Steemit events.
