Welcome to our Community Newsletter!
We believe in the positive impact that Steem can bring to people's lives. Even if it is a small change Steem has affected our lives by our new way of doing Social Media. In our community we have many talented and eager people who go the extra mile to help others, and create amazing works (together).
These people deserve to be put in the spotlights, that is why we have create a newsletter for our community, in which we showcase the initiatives and projects of our members and the creators themselves!
We hope that these newsletters will give a glance of all the beautiful movements that are happening within the Steem community.
Futurethinker and The Team
Have you ever wanted to make a difference in the world? Perhaps you'd like to be a part of making a positive change in the lives of children? Now, through the non-profit Creative Street project you can help bring an arts and crafts outreach program to the street kids of Manila.
Using art materials purchased with Steem proceeds and donations, the first arts and crafts workshop was held in a Manila park this past Saturday, May 19th. From the beaming smiles on the faces of the young attendees, it looks like it was a rousing success.
Volunteers working on this project gather art supplies and materials, plan the itinerary, secure the venue and get the word out on the streets. Art instruction, materials and food are provided from the monies raised. The hours of fun and smiles are shared in equal measure by both the kids and the volunteers.
The goal of Creative Street is to be able to hold arts and craft workshops for the street kids at least once a month. Providing an outlet for creativity in children is a very important part of childhood development. Like many other things in the lives of the homeless, art instruction and an afternoon of creativity is also something that is very difficult to come by on the city streets that are their home.
If you would like to make a difference in the life of a young person living on the streets, you can read and upvote Genesis Aala's posts. However you can contribute would be invaluable. Promo-Mentors wants to help aalagenesis realize her vision of bringing art, hope and a little bit of fun into the lives of Manila's homeless children.
Today we would like to highlight the-beard and the author, Valerio, who is a Television Director from Switzerland coming to grips with his hipster lifestyle.
For this spotlight, we are focusing on 1 of his videos, The Most Precious Asset. In this episode, The Beard asks us to follow along as he makes a mad dash to work, where he shows us a surprising discovery he has made since he stopped smoking a month ago. As always, his camera and editing work are spot on, and the look he gives us inside his life and his mind is thought provoking. The Beard Vlogs and videos are often hilarious, sometimes quirky and always entertaining. Make sure and check him out.
