Mr null has no Identity, his anonymous nature made him almost non accountable for any loss encountered in cases of transactions with him.
I made a few SBD and needed a wider audience as a newbie. But due to previous experiences with few online promoter i decided not to subscribe to any bot promising to help promote my post. But luckily for me, I found the
Steemit promotion button
Screenshot of recent transactions made minutes ago
I sent a few SBD just to test how it works. And after 2days of no result, I checked my transaction history and noticed i just sent almost an entire post earning to an unknown Identity @null. I rushed to know if i could find my work on any promotion section but didn't.
The logic behind this feature is beautiful. As explained by @steemitblog
The @null account is a special account
which no one has control over. This
means that once money is transferred to @null it is locked away for ever. In a
future hard fork we will remove the
Steem Dollars, Steem, and Steem Power held by this account from the supply, but until then it is effectively gone.
This means the money is distributed to all stakeholders. Since all payments are made in Steem Dollars and Steem
Dollars are similar to the debt of the
network, it means all payments made to
promote posts serve to reduce the debt
load on Steem which increases the value of Steem.
But a lot of Steemians unknowningly sends SBD on daily basis to this account and often times end up making awful remarks about the community. A more awareness campaign on this needs to be made.
I will suggest the feature be reviewed since the community debunks affiliation with it.
Steemit, Institution Disclaimer
The @null account is a special
blockchain level account and does not belong to Steemit, Inc or any other individual. Sending money to @null does not constitute a contract between
you and anyone else. Steemit, Inc can and will change how it chooses to
display, filter, and sort posts in the
promoted section at its sole discretion.
Or the promotion services made more effective with the disclaimer when spelt out so Steemians don't feel scammed when they subscribe to it.
Please Resteem!
