Hopefully HBD doesn't go under the microscope durning the next wave of stable coin regulations that are sure to be triggered by the UST de-pegging event that collapsed Terra Luna's UST stable coin. I doubt HBD will have any stable coin regulation problems anytime soon, but once HIVE and HBD start seeing some serious user adoption and growth over the next couple of years, we might want to have a plan ready just in case the feds decide to take a good hard look.
HBD is nothing like UST - they say now!
I remember before the de-pegging a lot of people would say things like HIVE is the next LUNA, lol! Now they're all mum. Maybe HIVE can take over where LUNA left off, without a de-pegging event. This LUNA UST crash might just be a golden opportunity for us to step in and fill their big empty shoes and show the world how a real stable coin can operate. We're going to have to do something, pretty soon the feds are going to be knocking at our door asking a million questions about HBD, I how we're ready!
What about LUNA?
Is Luna going to come back? Mathematically LUNA can't ever get to one dollar. If we're lucky, maybe a few cents, maybe a dime right away. Maybe in a few years LUNA Classic will be like ETC and get u to where HIVE is now, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

The new LUNA, (if hard-forked) surely will have some supporters left, and probably will trade up around a dollar initially. I think buying LUNA pre-fork might be a possible money maker if you buy in before the 27th. If you do participate in this gamble, then don't invest more than you are comfortable losing. I put in a few hundred bucks on the dip, and now i'm waiting to strike it rich like the rest of them Lunatics. Luckily I didn't have any LUNA before the de-pegging event, so I have some cushion.
Nobody knows the future, but one thing we do know is that these kind of events don't happen every day, & uncharted territory often is associated with greatest risk, and great possible rewards.
Hive has been taking steps to being more and more like Nushares and Nubits. The long powerdown time kept voters conservative in monetary policy. By shifting from the long half year power down, voters don't need to think so long term. Still voters should be wary of allowing HBD to go above 30% of combined marketcap. What happened to all of that demand for UST overnight? It was all hot money.
There is too much supply side economics around HBD. If many people want HBD its price will rise and the pegging mechanism will correct that up to the allowable amount of HBD. Terra and Luna followed Nushares and Nubits, perhaps its time to get out of HBD.
Not so, it is currently 13 weeks.
if I remember correctly, the original Steem period for powering down was six months. The reasoning was to have only those with diamond commitment to actually have control over monetary policy. Then it was reduced to three months to let those with wooden hands in. Then it was reduced to thirteen weeks. Now people want to reduce it even further. The Terra/Luna network has argued for longer powerdown times for those who vote on monetary policy better than @dan ever could.
2 years initially.
Show me someone in charge of a boat or plane who navigates large distances with a flat Earth model, and I'll show you a lost plane or boat. That aside, you're definitely right. Three months is indeed 13 weeks. I am not sure where my head was at when I said that.
thank you very much for the exchange, have a nice day and a great week
