If Proof of Work consensus failed, would you still invest in Bitcoin? So why are we letting the STEEM Proof of Brain consensus fail as STEEM stakeholders?

in #proofofbrain6 years ago (edited)

The whole idea behind the STEEM blockchain was Proof of Brain consensus for mining.

This meant you could "mine" on the STEEM blockchain by producing content and the community would vote/flag the content to decide it's true value and reach consensus.

When this isn't allowed to happen due to threats and intimidation, the consensus fails and we allow counterfeit STEEM to be created. This devalues the STEEM we all hold and work hard to earn.

So you can either put your head in the sand and pretend this counterfeit operation isn't happening and be holding a whole bag of worthless STEEM. Or you can do something today to stop the counterfeit coins being mined and save this very innovative platform.

STEEM had first mover advantage, but that won't last forever. We need to tackle this abuse before the counterfeiters earn more STEEM and become even more powerful.

But sadly the ones with the most investment and therefore the ones with the most to lose are the same ones who could so something about it yet wont. Its a bizzare situation!

You've got to realize that @kabir88 condones his own self upvoting at 100% for months. Yet, he steps out and downvotes others for self voting. Does that even make sense?

To me his is a hypocrite. He also defames an innocent analyst, Peter Brandt by posting accusations of tax evasion and fraud...except he uses Peter Brant, a very similar name but not the same. How bizzare is that?

Hi @haejin. I rather think this specific post was a general observation of the way Steemit is run as a source of 'quality content' but isn't. Steem is a kind of 'Economic game' being played by wealthy people whilst masquerading as a platform of empowerment at which it most certainly fails miserably.
We all need to accept this and do here what we think fit.
On a personal note, as you actually took time out to repond and many whales don'teven give enough of a fuck to bother, so for that, I thank you. Can I ask, why you rarely upvote your legions of admirers and followers? This is one thing that does annoy me about whales in general, they vote but there is almost no response or engagement from you. (For whales who are witnesses and dont engage, thats even worse in my opinion...and yes I'm not afraid to call them out on it too as I often used to!)
Thats my one question to you @haejin....why don't you join in the discussion and give a little back? Can you understand how much of a difference to some poor minnow from an impoverished background an odd upvote from you could change their life?

I like this...

Steemit is run as a source of 'quality content' but isn't. Steem is a kind of 'Economic game' being played by wealthy people whilst masquerading as a platform of empowerment at which it most certainly fails miserably.

Nice summary.

Thank you mate. Its a shame, but its what I truly believe.

I do wonder...are the devs still working on an update for Steemit? SMTs where are you? I feel like people are not going to come together on this platform and fix all the issues. The greed here is just too much.

I think there are many people trying to keep everyone honest, but the algorithm used to distribute steem doesn't reward this behaviour so over time the "false creators" accrue more steem. We would need some tweaks to the underlying system before we got this result I think. Jerrybanfield and haejin are examples of people rewarded for undermining the system.
