Today's coin reveal post features the Australia's 21st Century Silver Coin Set.

The Four Coin 1oz .999 Silver Set consists of three coins minted by the Perth Mint and one coin minted by the Royal Australian Mint. Each of the coins were minted in 2001.

  • 2001 Silver Millennium Coin struck by Perth Mint.
  • 2001 Australian Kookaburra Coin struck by Perth Mint.
  • 2001 Lunar Snake Coin struck by Perth Mint.
  • 2001 Silver Kangaroo Coin struck by Royal Australian Mint.

1. Coin Packaging

These four coins are beautifully presented in a blue clam shell case. The clam shell case comes in a simple white cardboard sleeve used to protect the case. Each set is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. This set is numbered 610. Only 5,000 of these sets were issued.

3. Coin Details

a. Mintage

The mintage of these coin sets was 5,000 sets. Each of the coins were issued as legal tender under the authority of the Australian Government. The denomination of each coin is $1 (Australian).

b. Purity

The purity of each of the coins in the 1oz collection set is .999 fine silver.

c. Details

Each of the coins is:

  • One Troy Ounce of Silver.
  • Denomination of $1 (Australian).
  • Purity of .999 Fine Silver.
  • Diameter of 40.6mm for the three Perth Mint Coins and 40.0mm for the one Royal Australian Mint Coin.

4. Coin Design

a. Reverse Design

The reverse of each coin is different:

  • The Silver Millennium Coin depicts Ancient Egypt Imagery.
  • The Australian Kookaburra Coin depicts a kookaburra in flight with the Australian Map in the background.
  • The Lunar Snake Coin depicts a snake with a eggs that are starting to hatch.
  • The Silver Kangaroo Coin depicts a stylised image of a kangaroo.

a. Obverse Design

The obverse of design of the each coin portrays an effigy Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Yea I do like this one.

There should be one coming up, if it is not out yet!

That is 5000 beautiful sets, but the same coin or coins can still be acquired separately as individual coins than the set or grade.
