Today's coin reveal post features the 2020 1oz Silver RESERVE Round struck by Scottsdale Mint. I will be doing a few posts on coins, bars and rounds produced by Scottsdale Mint over the next few weeks. Scottsdale is a precious metals mint located in Scottsdale, Arizona in the USA. They manufacture and distribute amazing precious metals coins, bars and rounds direct to the consumer via their online website. Every product that I have seen produced by Scottsdale Mint is of exceptional quality and design, the company states that they have 'a strict quality policy and only create products that exceed the highest standards of purity, weight, quality, and craftsmanship'.

To date, I do not own any Scottsdale Mint coins, bars or rounds so this series of upcoming posts is a form of dream boarding for me. I have every intention of owning many of their products in my stack, but for various reasons that has not occurred yet. In these posts I will be writing that reality into existence for my future self. 🤣
Unfortunately, the Scottsdale products that available here in Australia on the secondary market attract quite a premium, that I have not been willing to pay. To all the American stackers on HIVE, consider yourselves very fortunate to have such a great producer of quality precious metals products available to you. I honestly cannot complain though, because here in Australia we have The Perth Mint, who are one of the best mints in the world.
1. Coin Story
The 1oz Silver RESERVE round features a new technology known as lenticular imagery which has been embedded on both sides of the round. Lenticular imagery is a technology used to produce images on the round or coin with an illusion of depth. Often the lenticular image will change or move as the round or coin is viewed from different angles.
These proof-like rounds are great to hold in your hand and view at varying angles which make the Lion Logo and 2020 completely disappear on the obverse of the round. Viewing the reverse of the round at varying angles makes the words RESERVE and Scottsdale disappear. This lenticular technology is used on modern coins and rounds, because it creates incredible designs and it also adds a very important visible security that is very difficult for fraudsters to replicate or reproduce.

2. Coin Packaging
Individual rounds are shipped in protective plastic packaging. When purchasing multiple rounds, they come packaged in tubes of 20 rounds per tube. Third-party plastic coin capsules can be purchased to house and protect your Scottsdale RESERVE rounds, just make sure you purchase a capsule that has a diameter greater than 39.3mm.

3. Coin Details
a. Purity
The purity of each of the rounds is .999 fine silver.

4. Coin Design
a. Reverse Design
The reverse of the coin depicts the Scottsdale lion logo at the top edge with a sunburst effect radiating outward. In the sunburst lines there are smaller lines with lenticular imagery that can only be seen at the correct angle. These are "Scottsdale" and "Reserve" that alternate from one line to the next.

b. Obverse Design
The obverse of the coin features the metal weight and purity as well as a stylized "R" with the word "RESERVE" below in capital letters. In lines behind this you can see "2020" and the Scottsdale lion logo if viewed at the correct angle as part of the lenticular design.
