THIS IS ALL TOO TRUE.
"Propaganda is intentionally-designed communication that invites us to respond emotionally, immediately, and in a either-or manner."
There is propaganda everywhere, in almost every society, used for both good and bad intentions, but always with this intention in mind. I am fortunate enough to have watched and listened to Noam Chomsky's live lectures during my grad school years at MIT, and it was such always so enlightening. He is such an intelligent human being, and even if you don't agree with all his views, he certainly makes valid points that are based on facts. In the US, modern propaganda is everywhere and all around us, all the time. I'm lucky to have traveled a lot internationally and spent so much time understanding different cultures, governments, and ways of living that I am able to make comparisons and draw conclusions that many Americans who've never experienced life outside of America haven't. For example health care and free college education - there is a huge propaganda in the US that it means SOCIALISM and everyone should revolt and be against it. But there are so many developed nations that have proven this can work and DOES WORK. Gun laws are another huge one, as well as military support. If you say anything against the military in the US, the government won't do anything about it, but they've brainwashed us to the point where the people themselves will turn against anything you say because you "don't support the troops" or "disgrace our flag" etc. It's sad that in the land of "free speech", people are inclined to stop each other from talking, not the government itself.
