Wow.
I've thought about doing this myself at some point, although, I don't think I'm prepared to do so quite yet. Soon, however.
Now.. this entity you spoke to. Did you view it as God, or perceive it as such? Or possibly a lesser presence interconnected with us in some way? Like you said, your brain fabricating is the most logical explanation.. but all things that are real were once imagined, so whose to say what you spoke to isn't just a real as you or I?
Did you write everything down as the trip progressed, or is this all from memory? Is any of it conjecture?
What I find interesting, is the entity desire for us to not evolve. Nature, as it would seem, is literally programmed to evolve, to move forward from a cruder state to a more perfect one.
It says "I don't want you to be as me, I want you to stay as you are" and if that were the case, why allow us the ability to create and involve at all? Let alone make us compelled by it, instictual for us to do, as it is.
Your experience is so fascinating to me because, in many ways, you experienced the opposite of what many others have experienced. The entity you spoke with seemed to desire dominance over you rather than communion, control rather than freedom.
I wonder how differently it might have responded if instead of saying "You're just the mushrooms talking" you would have said something like "How do the mushrooms allow me to connect with you?" Maybe something to remember for next time.
Either way, wonderful report. I love Terrance McKenna as well and I think I'll go and listen to his own heroic dark room experience (out of curiosity, did you roll the bombers as well?)
Agreed, I have written about that principle in the past. The conditions which cause this to take place do not need to be 'programmed' if there are an infinity of universes however, it simply takes place only in those universes which (by chance) have the necessary characteristics. Much in the same way that life arises only on planets with the necessary characteristics, but that's not a problem because there's so many.
It's also the opposite of what I typically feel/experience, which is as you describe: The tendency of matter to self-organize into intelligence because of the way the laws of physics are in this universe.
Perhaps an expression of my own insecurities about growth and change, then. I don't put much stock in hallucinations. The only things I've taken with me from trips and developed further as serious ideas are stuff that still checks out from a materialist, empiricist perspective after I've come down. Otherwise I'd wind up one of those people with dreadlocks, sandals and a walking stick, making friends call me a shaman.
Haha at least you know what keeps you sane and how to maintain a clear lie between your experiences. The mushroom is a mighty powerful substance, it can overtake you if you let it.
