This will be my first ever comment on any of your posts. And this is so because for the first time it's something I can relate with. Well, a lil bit, with wisdom from some social psychology course I took some months back.
You want some new psychological insights?😏 Here's some.
Judging from your personality perceived from this post alone, you're one of the rare type.
What type?
The few who are not in the lair of the Self-Serving Bias.
The Self-Serving Bias is the tendency to perceive oneself favouribly (Attributing positive outcomes to oneself and negative outcomes to other factors - human or environmental.
This bias births other tendencies including False Consensus and False Uniqueness.
This is where you'd see how different you're from my psychoanalysis 😏
False Consensus is the general tendency to overestimate the commonality of our faults and foibles. That is, we overestimate that more persons have the same character flaws that we have, usually for the sake of our self-esteem. Using this case as an example, After being called a gynophobe, and finding out it's true, you could have claimed that everyone has that same flaw. Just so that you'd not feel singled out and also keep your self-esteem levels.
False uniqueness on the other hand is the tendency for people to underestimate the commonality of their virtues or good sides. Again, for their self-esteem. So if you have a skill or a virtue, you inherently believe that you're one of the rare type.
Like this comment, you'd like to believe that there are only very few persons like you who do not have that self-serving bias (realising one has it, can help change the manner of thinking; as with all other biases).
Humans and our Ego😅.
Just keep an eye out for these biases,it helps; as I was taught, it would help fortify our thinking.
That you didn't generalise this "fault", but accepted it independently is cool. I believe that is true power; owning up to one's own identity. It reminds me of the words of Tyrion Lannister, " Wear your flaws as an armour, and it cannot be used against you"
What do you think? Good analysis? Or just another Bias?😅
