Colors and their representation in different cultures have always amazed me.
How in Christianity, White is the wedding color and Black is the mourning color but in Hinduism, Red is the wedding color and White is the mourning color. But, as you pointed out, Red is the mourning color in South Africa.
I wonder how this all started; what affected the different choices for colors and their meanings among religions/cultures.
Yes, that's really interesting. Many cases at the beginning there is a reason behind it, later it is pure tradition.
