Have you ever heard of this popular quote, which has been an advertising line, in one of the vitamins commercial in the Philippines?
All of us would like to be rich, aren't we? But only few people know that there is a psychology behind being rich. Probably, one of the best-selling books of all times, that dwell on this matter is the book by Napoleon Hill entitled "Think and Grow Rich". Hill is one of the most notable speaker and motivator of all time. He is considered a Legend in the field even before Jim Rohn, Anthony Robbins, Robert kiyosaki, T. Harv, Eker and the likes. He is a former adviser to the late President Franklin Roosevelt, he has interviewed more than five hundred successful and probably the richest people in his time. This includes Henry Ford and Thomas Edison, among others.
The great thing about Napoleon Hill's teachings on becoming rich is not what other financial guru is taking about, like investing, saving, being frugal, etc. One of the most important lesson that he taught is " You have to See it in Your Mind".
The main purpose of his book/s is for people to overcome the psychological barriers to becoming rich. All of us are capable of being rich, however, most of us have a "Poverty Mindset". Unfortunately, including I hasn't overcome this main barrier yet.
For Napoleon Hill, to become rich is to become obsessed with being Rich. How do you become obsessed? Probably, put being rich in the place of the person you truly love, and that you will do just about anything just to make her yours. We are rich by now, if we are this obsessed. Now the problem is this, at the back of our minds there are silent whispers that tells us, "you are too greedy", "it should not be, your religion does not permit that act", and so on. Apparently, these types of mindset shun us from making that step to becoming Rich.
Most of us have Self-Limiting Beliefs, these are the belief system that has been installed in our minds when we are just a child probably by our parents, family, friends, or the people around us. One of the very basic example of this, is when we as a child would go to a toy store and would ask our parents to buy us the toy we wanted. Our parents in return will tell us," we do not have money for that". Have you ever been in that situation as a child? Perhaps, most of us have right? The very words our parents told us was stored in our subconscious mind as a child and was tagged as "LACK". So whenever pressed in to the same situation, our data bank brings us back to that childhood experience, and so most of us felt that we lack the money, we lack the capability.
To sum it all up, everything boils down to our thinking and our way of thinking. Simple as that, and yet the hardest. Our mind is the gateway to the riches we purposely desire. And so, it is our responsibility to guard our minds of thoughts of lack, and poverty. It is the first step to achieve TO THINK AND BECOME RICH
This is just sooooooo right @chillinph! Glad you're also into these kinds of stuffs. I have been reading also same kinds of books about money, self development and the like. And yes, the number one thing that should be transformed or improved is our mindset. Kudos @chillinph! I have also purchased Napoleon Hill's book, and after reading this, it made me so excited to start reading it! Thank you! More power!💕
Glad to know you're one enthusiast :) I've read the book twice but I think I need to re-read it few times more maybe I'd be able to decipher the code. Hahaha. Thanks so much @namranna
I believe you could decipher the code soonest. You're welcome @chillinph! 🙌🏻
Great post and so true. People today have to stop blaming outside forces on why they are where they are. You can’t blame the economy or work or even where you live for why things are bad for you because those things aren’t going to change. You need to change the way you think and actually make an effort to change things in your life. I have changed mine by getting healthier. I figured I should get discipline over my health first and that will transcend into the rest of my life. If interested check out my article on how I lost 50lbs on a keto diet @curiousskeptic
So true! If we could only practice and teach our mind to get what we want, we can truly achieve what we desire. Wow! That's great. Will go over to your account to checkout your post. Been very intrigued by that diet @curiousskeptic
