Reinforcement learning and punishment

Society conditions it's members through the mechanisms shown in the video. Those who have an understanding of child psychology will know that techniques such as time out, prizes, grades, are all part of the mechanism of reinforcement which teachers use to teach children the desired behaviors.

Is punishment valuable? Can people be taught without using punishment? Are we all products of society and is our behaviors primarily conditioned?

I think not a big punishment is needed, that would understand what is good and what is bad :)

Generally punishment exists even on Steemit with the flagging.

Very good post this is also use in adults in mental health, were I work. Great to fin you on here, i’ve been following you for a while. Looking forward to more great info :)

Corporations also use rewards in the form of bonuses. These techniques are used everywhere.

In my country (developing country), there are many schools in one-district, may be have 15 elementary school, 6 junior high school and 3 senior high school.

Especially for junior and high schools, we have schools with extreme student (we call "school headache", as most of student are stubborn and insolent, they are student transfer from other schools because of mischief).

In schools like this, punishment mechanisms may be more appropriate in the application of teacher. With the mechanisms punishment, student will be more obedient what teacher intructed, so that the impact student want to learn even in a state depression (despite stressful circumstances, student will understand the lesson they teach).

Has there been a study which has shown the effectiveness or lack thereof for punishment?

I can't be motivated by punishment, nor reward. The motivation in me only comes if I do something that I find useful or interesting. Punishment and reward, for a long time, destroyed all motivation in me. I had to do a lot of searching to find out what it is that motivates me without that I'm being rewarded or punished.

Nice to find this pure statement of individuality. Useful or interesting, thats you reward.
