Introduction
It is a known fact that technology innovations are improving exponentially and every year we have something new that is totally surprising and getting closer to gadgets that look like something from a science fiction movie. In the same way, the video game industry is also getting better, with constant developments, more sophisticated mechanisms and more money involved both in the development and in the revenue. Because of this, we can see the present as a time in which this industry is living one of its best eras due to the fact that playing video games is becoming something mainstream and no longer a small niche like before. While in the beginning video games consisted in simple codes executing very simple commands, right now the quality of those simulations is remarkable.

The generational leap is one of the most impressive aspects since the current video games are capable of providing graphics very close to what we can see in the real world with almost infinite possibilities for the future, and this allows everyone to have a much more immersive and vivid experience when having a gaming session. However, the most important milestone in the history of video games may be the introduction of online multiplayer, as well as the proliferation of eSports, which has given a great opportunity for the entire industry to become even more popular due to the new social interaction that comes with the mentioned features, and this has allowed its growth to a point that wasn’t possible before, and because of the constantly increasing quality of video games, they now can be used not only to entertain us, but also to help us overcome all sort of health issues, including mental ones.

Well done on the post. It will be interesting to see where this goes. The funny thing is, I just read an article that the W.H.O. classifies gaming addiction as a mental disorder now so it can help but at the same time now be damaging lol.
Next you'll hear people say gaming addiction is a disease lol.
Well, I think people can get addicted to a lot of things, including gaming. But that doesn't stop gaming to have its positive side as well.
Cheers @gaming-smg
Brave new world of video games... that's for sure! @ironshield
Hello @dedicatedguy
With sophistication of the emerging technologies of video game industry like virtual reality as well as augmented reality, I really do believe video games will have a bigger roles to play in the treatment of mental issues.
Reading the concept of virtual reality and augmented reality alone without real life experience makes one have the real feelings of what is like to experience them; not to talk of when one has to be put through the real experience consistently over a period of time with aim of tackling a particular mental issue. I think there are lots to be explored as well as achieved in this regard.
Very nice article

That's right @eurogee, video games can now not only provide fun but also ways to help people with health issues.
I was always thinking that video games can only have negative impact and nothing else. But this article gives me a different perspective. Good read.
This is an old myth that has been proved as wrong several times. In fact, video games that make people have a lot of moves like the ones using Microsoft's Kinect can help people as well, look for example this video from Microsoft
Iabsolutely love reading a postive spin on somthing that's traditionally villified and feared. New technolgies are here to stay so no doomsday prophesying and ignorance please. I hate it when people spout the common misconception that there is a link between video games and violence, for example, without having done the research themselves. This is a great article @dedicatedguy - it's also going to be so interesting to see where the whole VR thing goes.
That, as well as AR development are the future without doubt.
Thanks for your kind words @riverflows!
Gaming and psychology @dedicatedguy is at another amazing write up
Treating mental medical issue with video games would be very nice
I hate to say but
it is hard for the canal to understand the things of the spirit
.... Game is extremely psychological it might be a good way to help mental issues because it is more of simulating what happens in the real worldNice article sir
Yes, video games can even become the best way to do that. But they are also useful to help with other types of issues like in the video above from microsoft.
the potential of videogames to help us physiologically is IMMENSE.. it totally perplexes me WHY just about every popular game is still focused on killing, shooting, and death! madness really.. but it seems that is what the kids want.. I use to play a game called endorfun when i was a kid. It was a 3d meditative puzzle like game that had positive affirmations happening all through it.. i loved that games.. so positive!
It is similar to movies. Action being the most profitable genre and it is difficult to make an action video game without some kind of violence. But for example there is the FIFA video game that is very popular and it is just about football.
I haven't heard of that video game mate! Thanks for naming it, there could be a newer version of something like that, I will check this out.
Cheers!
The potential of video games on impacting mental issues is something that is possible in my opinion. Not only this but as you mentioned in this post they are also very engaging for cognitive development. I speak from person experience. My wife as been playing puzzle and word games for a while now and I must say she has gotten good at them. Her vocabulary has increased. It is for this reason that I believe video games are going t have a massive impact on how we approach human psychology in the near future.
That's really nice @solomonsel! It is a nice example of how video games can actually help people.
Thanks for sharing this example.
