For me, there was always a certain freedom in going elsewhere because it allowed me to be "anonymous." Nobody knew me, nobody needed me to "do" things, nobody had any expectations.

I was a completely different person when I went abroad specifically for the fact that I was "anonymous." Those people did not know me and I knew that I was going to be there temporarily. It's definitely a shift in mindset.
