Introduction
Human beings have been attempting to define personality for a long, long time, and even though we’ve come quite far since those early days, it’s difficult to build a model for something as complex and dynamic as the personality.
The Myers Briggs Personality Test comes pretty damn close, though.
I’ll provide a link for you to take it at the end of this post. 👍
What Is It? 🤔
The test is a based on the theories by Katherine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers in combination with the ideas proposed by Carl Jung in his Theory of Psychological Types.
The Briggs team developed a system of ordering the Jungian Cognitive Functions into order of preference to determine Personality type.
These functions are:
Mind
👉 Introversion (I) or Extroversion (E)
Energy
👉 Intuition (N) or Sensing (S)
Nature
👉 Thinking (T) or Feeling (F)
Tactics
👉 Judging (J) or Prospecting (P)
Identity
👉 Assertive (-A) or Turbulent (-T)
Type Groups 🔘
These functions are then categorized into two layers; an inner layer that defines Role and an outer layer that defines Strategy.
The categorizations look something like this:
Roles ⚪️
Analysts
👉 Intuitive (N) and Thinking (T)
Diplomats
👉 Intuitive (N) and Feeling (F)
Sentinels
👉 Sensing (S) and Judging (J)
Explorers
👉 Sensing (S) and Prospecting (P)
Each role has both Assertive (-A) and Turbulant (-T) variants that define strategy.
Strategies ⚫️
Confident Individualism
👉 Introverted (I) and Assertive (-A) types
People Mastery
👉 Extraverted (E) and Assertive (-A)
Constant Improvement
👉 Introverted (I) and Turbulent (-T)
Social Engagement
👉 Extraverted (E) and Turbulent (T)
Type Tables 🔠
These tables show all possible types as well as their roles and strategies.
16 Types, 16 Series
After all is said and done, you finally get 4 groups categorizing 16 distinct personality types.
I will be doing a post for each personality type, outlining their:

Thanks for reading!
My high school forced all freshmen to take this test so they can give us an idea of what our future jobs would be. Biggest bs. However, they are fun when you are not forced to take it and it is not taken literally by an organization.
Agreed 1000%. The test is fun and a neat look into personality.. but it isn't meant to determine your future.
How great @iamjustincscott! Thank you for sharing this :))
