Very true, I've seen it in my own life, and in those around me. It's the people who are willing to "do the work" that excell, not necessarily the ones we think are the best suited for the job.

Same here. Much of what I have done well with was the result of my willingness to "grind it out" after everyone else got either bored or frustrated... and left.
