RE: Music and Happiness - Truth or Myth?

in #psychology7 years ago

Totally!! Even babies can react to music. I have a 3 year old kid here in the house and everytime I sing a sad song for her she will say no no no, she dont want to hear it cause if I do she will start to cry. And I am no singer, but they still can listen to the horrible tune of sadness in my voice. So I always have to sing a happy song, and after a while she will memorize it and sing it too! What an amazing thing huh music/song?!!!
I can also recall, long time ago when I took care of my niece, Nadyah (she was only a baby, prob 10months to a year old), when I was just 16 years old, (her mom had to work), and always sing to her one particular song every night before she goes to sleep for almost one year straight. Then when I moved out of the house to live on my own, I dont get to see her very often when she grows up.
Then one weekend I've decided to visit her and stay at her place (she is by now prob 7-8 years old, so when I put her to sleep one night, and guess what she ask me to sing, the very same song that I sang to her 7 years ago!! I was perplexed at how she can remember even though I have not sang to her for that long!!! AMAZEBALLS!!

Yes! Mine too. Even if it was a random tune that I hum repetitively when she was young
